Singapore to LHR. Have either the 777 or A380. The 777 departs slightly earlier which could be bad as the lounge will be full of 777 passengers plus A380 ones. If I get the A380 the 777 passengers will have left. Otherwise I have no idea which plane is the best? Some people on here like the A380 better.

hi.

Not sure about the current lounge situation in singapore but I prefer F in the a380 as it seemed quieter than the 777 with a better environment I felt.

Some 777s might be being reduced to only have 8f

A lot depends on when you are flying. All A380s are currently stored and the A380 may no longer be operating to Singapore or indeed at all by the time you fly. The A380 would be my choice - if you have the choice - given its better cabin environment and more space in F.

There are currently no lounges available at SIN, although some may have reopened by the time you fly. You would usually have the choice of BA, QF (F and J) and QR lounges, of which the QF F lounge is the best, with the QR lounge a close second. There are unlikely to be any QF international services until at least April, and so the QF lounges will remain closed until then.

I'm flying next May. Unfortunately I mistakenly booked the 777 so will have to pay to change.

Personally I'd pick the A380 over the 777 every day (in any cabin!) and twice on Sundays! Of course, the A380s may not be around then.

I would not recommending paying to change; there isn't enough of a difference in the customer experience between the A380 and 777 in F, and between now and May odds are good that there will be one or more involuntary schedule changes that will allow you to make further changes for free.

Whilst the A380 First seat has more space around it given the wider cabin, the seat is essentially the same as on the 77W - unless you get a newly delivered 77W, in which case it will be a similar seat to the 787-9.

I would certainly not pay to change to the A380 flight for the reasons B-HQC mentions - as well as the fact that the A380 may no longer be operating come May.

I also wouldn't recommend changing at a cost. I deliberately booked BA11/15 and BA12/16 First to SYD to get the A380 on two legs, both have which changed to 77W and leave me with an unnecessary long stop outbound in SIN..... not that I can see the flights happening !

Well I have finally risked it - Booked LHR - SFO in First (cash) given the ridiculous pricing available for June next year. Obviously hoping the situation is resolved enough by then to go. My wife and I are currently in 2F/2E both ways on what is advertised as an A380. No status so can't manage row 1, and we do like to sit together thus the middle seating. Any thoughts on the likelihood of SFO remaining an A380 by June next year?

Hi,

This is probably crystal ball territory but looking at the timetable for next June, both daily flights are scheduled for the A380. I would say it is very unlikely for both flights to remain as A380.

If A380s are flying for BA in June, I would say there is a fairly good chance (~60%) that you might see one of them on the SFO route. But as TBS says, I would say that there is a near-zero (or exactly zero IMO) chance there will be two BA A380s visiting SFO on the same day.

What's the best side of the cabin to sit on, left or right?

Can I help you Oct 5, 2020 6:32 am

Always the right due to less foot traffic as crew normally favour the left hand side.

On the 787 is 2F OK to book for my companion or will she be kicked out if there's a baby on-board?

2F is the bassinet seat on a 787-9, so no reason for your companion to be shifted from 2K.
