Tesco and Avios
Tesco, the major UK supermarket chain, allows you to convert Tesco Clubcard (CC) points to Avios. The standard earning rate is 1 CC point per £1 spent in store. They convert to Avios in the ratio of 1 CC point to 2.4 Avios or 2.5 Virgin miles. Every quarter, your points are converted to coupons and mailed to you - they can then be converted via the CC website to Avios or Virgin miles. Typically, it takes 1-2 working days for a conversion to BA Avios to complete.

The key to rapidly earning large amounts of Avios is the regular bonus point offers where large amounts of points can be earned. The latest are listed below and discussed within this thread.

The last period for collecting Clubcard points finished on 16 October 2014.

The last day for collecting points in the current quarter is 21 January 2015
.

Topcashback (TCB)
A cashback generating site, that provides cashback if you go to a wide range of online retailers via their links. Uniquely amongst such sites, TCB allows up to £50 of cashback per year to be withdrawn to your Tesco Clubcard account, which could then be transferred to 12,000 Avios. As of the middle of May, most cashback can also be transferred directly to your Avios account 1p=1 Avios. http://www.topcashback.co.uk/

Why do you go TCB > Tesco > BA instead of TCB > BA ?

£2.50 Tesco converts to 600 avios.

Hence, ignoring the TCB % uplift:
£50 TCB converts to 5,000 avios.
£50 TCB converts to £50 in clubcard vouchers, which converts to 12,000 avios.

Wow, I'm glad I haven't converted yet any of my TCB balance yet, I didn't know about this...

The thing is, as other member have noted, Tesco isn't listed as one of the companies I can transfer my balance to.

Have you entered your clubcard number into your profile on TCB?

Phew, thanks everyone - seems that my CC number had gone (along with some other details) from my profile on TCB. Added back in and the option to transfer to CC points has returned

Any word on the Tesco (aluminium) can recycling machines? I used to earn a huge number of CC points through this, and I'm still holding on to some hope that they might return one day... does anyone know anything about this?

However you are capped at £50 per year via Tesco clubcard, apart from earnings from Hilton (not sure if there are others that are uncapped)

What are the most profitable and easy ways for earning fast cashback on TCB?

I've done the Equifax and Experian free trials (cancelling before the 30 days limit) to earn almost £13. I've done some first online groceries shoppings as well but besides that I find it difficult to get to the £50.

Any tips?

Switch your car and home insurance and anything else you can when the time comes.

It'll probably save you money regardless and if you can claim TCB on top, bonus avios.

But definitely do check elsewhere. For me, Tesco has always been significantly more expensive for insurance that other comparable policies.

Beware that some merchants prohibit transfers to Tesco

Yep, Expedia is one that springs to mind.... which is annoying as I used to use them a lot as their cashback with TCB was always pretty much the best

Here's a query -

I have been transferring to full TCB £50 to Tesco CC

Mrs UT recently opened her own TCB account. she plans to do the same.

Question is, can she shift up to the £50 to the SAME Tesco CC (would be nice as it's a grandfathered account with 800 Avios/£2.50 CC points), or will she have to get herself a new CC number just so she can hook it up with TCB?

Thanks
