Upgrading Using Avios (UUA)
Summary guide to bookings which can be upgraded with Avios:
  • BA issued tickets (can include other carriers) ^

TA has to issue the ticket in the country of your BAEC membership as well.

LGW to Algiers (ALG), Bodrum (BJV) due to start late April 2015, Dalaman (DLM) due to start late April 2015, Fuerteventura (FUE) due to start 13 December 2014 (does not show as a short haul+ route on BAEC calculator but that seems to be an error), Heraklion (HER) due to start late April 2015, Lanzarote (ACE), Larnaca (LCA), Las Palmas (LPA) due to start March 2015, Madeira Funchal (FNC) due to start March 2015, Malta (MLA), Marrakech (RAK), Paphos (PFO), Rhodes (RHO) due to start late April 2015, Tenerife (TFS), Thessaloniki (SKG), and Tirana (TIA).

LCY to Mykonos (JMK) and Santonrini (JTR) - both for June to September 2015.

Only two transfers permitted each way. Books into I buckets.

Ticketing must be completed on/before 31st August.

Possibly a mistake: in the rules, the fare is described (for information only) "THESE FARES APPLY FOR ECONOMY CLASS SERVICE".

West Coast to Honolulu isn't usually cheap. You need to look the other direction. Miami then connecting to somewhere in Florida or the Caribbean...

Hello I need some advice.

Next summer (july 2015) I want to go from AMS to Honolulu.
I see there is no change to have for a stopover (AA en BA does not allow this)
What is your advice?
Is this still possible with US Airways? They got a nice route (AMS-LON-Phoenix-Honolulu) In First class this will earn a lot of points.
I only want to a stop over in Phoenix for a 2 weeks roundtrip with the family.

All Europe-US fares on BA, AA, IB, AY and US are now commonly agreed in the joint venture.

If there is a sale fare, it will be valid on any metal (subject to availability). However, almost no I sale fare components permit you to do a stopover on the EU-HNL route. A sales permit this but it will poor value on this route, if it is offered at all.

The best you will do is save money on the way back by using the sale fare component on that leg.

NB, there is no sale on at the moment. You will have to wait a few months.

Also, note there is no first class on LON-PHX after the end of October.

Good idea. Tickets AMS to Honolulu are sometimes cheaper than AMS to LAX. Very strange. Only first class tickets Honolulu to LAX or Phoenix are very expensive in July 2015. Maybe award ticket Honolulu to LAX

TP run from DCA?

I need 540 TPs to make Gold, and have a day free from Washington to do a run on November 2. I see options on AA.com for about $1,100 for trips to SFO and SAN, but they inevitably involve routing through ORD, which does not give me the two 2,000+ mile segments that I need. Could anyone suggest a routing from DCA for a day trip that would get me 540 TPs? Thanks.

My best suggestion would be IAD-LAX-SFO (rtn) in F all the way. Flights are AA263/1143/219/74.

This can be done in a little more than a day (arrival back in IAD at 0650hr on 3rd Nov) and will net you 540TP for just over $1100 (I'm seeing it as £667GBP). You need to use the multi-city booking option on aa.com and schedule the flights individually though to avoid a ORD or DFW connection.

Good luck with the trip! ^

Difficult to see how you could fit in two 2000+ mile sectors (420 tier points) plus two connecting flights (120 tier points) given your time constraint of one free day. Could you do the 2000+ mile return trip on 2 Nov and then a very short return trip out of DCA another day?

I agree with gcuk - it's a very tough ask, even expanding to BWI etc. doesn't seem possible. Maybe just take the 420 TPs from LAX return and then grab a QR fare from CAI for another 120
