Hi, hoping for some advice please:

Currently gold, dropping to silver in Dec. I see quite a bit of work travel in 2015 so looking to get back to gold quickly and consider GGL.

Already have a trip in Dec in CE (after the 8th )

So, first work trip is first week Jan. to PHX. Need to arrive 3 Jan (can be stupidly late) and then need to be physically at LHR on 13 Jan. I can start my TP run from the 8th anytime after 21:00.

So, a couple of things I thinking for this trip;

-take A380 LHR LAX return in F (paid fare, hopefully from sale between now and then!)

-ideally do an ex mainland Europe before and after to help with pricing and TP's. Not bothered about starting point.

-Was looking at Filthy Monkey's run:

£0.78/TP | £713 | 920TPs | HNL-LAX-MIA-SAL-MIA-LAX-HNL | A/A/I/I/A/A | aa.com | Filthy Monkey | AA (Updated 29 July '14)

which would fit nicely into something like this (i think):

LHR AMS LHR LAX PHX LAX HNL LAX MIA SAL MIA LAX HNL LAX LHR AMS LHR

TP: 40, 40, 210, 40, 40, 210, 210, 210, 40, 40, 210, 210, 210, 210, 40, 40

I imagine that Filthy Monkey must have done this and a live TR, wondering if anyone can point me to it for tips and timings maybe?

Is my calculation above for TP's correct? (I believe > 2000 miles = 210, so guessing the MIA SAL sectors are only 40 each way?

Hadn't thought of something like HEL or MLA for 80 each way instead of the usual 40 with ex mainland Europe...maybe timings won't allow this though...

I can arrange the timings for the outbound okay to PHX using my route above but not sure how much time I would need for the LAX HNL LAX MIA SAL MIA LAX HNL LAX legs. I only have from late evening 8th or early 9th Jan until 12th Jan around 18:00 to do any TP run...

So before I go and learn ITA matrix for this type of thing...is there a TP run for this Filthy Monkey route that I can read up on?

Is there a better way to maximise that time for flights? (do wish to use the A380 to West Coast instead of the A318 LCY JFK route, even though the TP would be the same and it would be cheaper).

Not asking anyone to do the hard work for me, just trying to get a feel for the timings needed to do a couple of 2000 mile dashes between the 8th and the 12th.

Thanks for any comments in advance, hope I have provided enough info to understand my thinking but if I have missed anything important please do let me know! ^

I am doing this all on my iPad as I am away from home this weekend so a bit limited in how much digging I can do. I don't know what US cities are included or whether HNL is included and at what price.

With tax that's quite a bit below some of the good ones?

I am flexible on dates and duration.

Any suggestions?
Just looked at this one, it is better probably to GRU/GIG in combination with EZE first, and then nest US run. If adding HNL, you will most likely need 2 tickets, with Seattle it should be possible to be in 1 ticket.

For how many TP's are you looking for.

I might well take this ex CPH fare to BOS - but am having issues pricing it - April 2nd or so next year....

CPH-HEL-LHR/LCY-JFK-BOS

and return (maybe with an additional hop in the US to say DCA for a few more TPs)

AA coming out in excess of £2.5K!!

This sale only applies to the east coast right? I can't seem to add a tag on to DTW (got some family there) for any sort of reasonable price

Recalled seeing a US-EZE fare mentioned recently, probably not available anymore but may be worth checking - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...e#post23296652

ETA - $2,000 for LAX-GRU via LIM on LAN/TAM in late September. If you get a good ex-EU to West Coast could be looking at c. £2,500 for those two, and scope for some of the well known runs in the US

(May be worth checking fares from some of the TP run destinations such as SJU etc)

No, I'm seeing PHX at around £1400 going CPH-LHR/LCY-JFK-PHX and the same routing on the way back. Make sure you've got your dates correct (Karfa posted the valid dates upthread somewhere).

The ILR28AP fare also seems to work for LAX actually.

Got CPH-HEL-LHR-JFK-LAX-JFK-LHR-HEL-CPH for £1215. 800TP @ £1.51/TP dates from 01/07/15.

Presumably this would work for the babybus from LCY too but I suck too much at matrix to bring it up :P

I got DTW for £1266 by putting "lon ba1-4 jfk aa* us* ord aa* us*" in the advanced routing codes for outbound, and "aa* us* ord aa* us* jfk ba1-4 lon ba* ib* ay*" for routing codes inbound. I'm sure there are more sophisticated ways of searching, and I haven't bothered trying to add HEL, but it works.

You're welcome! Ahh, I feel like a real FT'er now that I've finally helped someone else with ITA Matrix and a TP run!
