BA lifetime loyalty programme soon to be introduced

For what it is worth, have it from a super authorative BA source, they will soon be introducing a lifetime reward programme to enhance long term loyalty. Probably lifetime Gold for people who have been Gold for 10+ years - details still to be ironed out, but coming out soon ....

Worth doing ten years of cheap AA F tier point runs if you're young enough I would say.

If I were young enough I would go for it. Although I notice the OP says "probably Gold" which might be even more wishful thinking.

The OP is telling the truth, I am led to understand.

This will amuse all the BMI 'lifetime' Gold's, who were told where they could stuff their lifetime Gold cards by BA .....

Clearly it should be based on Avios earned rather than years as Gold, though :-)

similar logic with BMI a number of years ago wouldn't have paid dividend though, would it...

Someone in the forum mentioned that BA once offered lifetime (silver?) status and then cancelled the benefit so I'd say you'd need some assurance that they're serious about this benefit if you're starting from 0 years.

Personally I'd not offer lifetime gold status as such but a card after 10 years that gave you all the gold benefits but ONLY if flying BA rather than all one world airlines. So if you want oneworld benefits you'd still need to earn them while still offering an incentive to fly BA.

This would be a great benefit and I look forward to hearing more details.

I remain unconvinced by this. Surely the lounges are crowded enough with those who fly once in a blue moon?

It is just under 9 years since I first hit BA Gold and have already requalified to take me through to 10 years. I did have a shameful few month interlude as a Silver though about 6 years ago

Would be nice if they offered lifetime Silver for those maintaining Silver for maybe 15 years, and lifetime Gold for those maintaining Gold for 10 years.

They'd have to up the number of BA sectors required each membership year though, IMO.

There'll be a blue moon on the 18th May this year.

Yes, I heard they were targeting its launch for H1 2013. As always, the devil is in the details.
