Sympathy, T8191..... perhaps time the Channel islands set up their own airline?

This is one downside of living in an island I guess but at least you still have a BA service. Most islands around the UK don't even have an air service and have to rely on a ferry.

We already have two. Just. Aurigny and Blue Islands but I doubt that either will allow us 3 x 32g bags each

You have my sympathies T8

But can I just say, welcome to the world of an airline changing something, seemingly on a whim, that royally f**k's you up & totally destroys a happy little arrangement that you've been quietly, contentedly & loyally enjoying for years, only to find that you now have to re-think the entire equation.

Of course, depending on who you are & how you are regarded on this forum, you will either be showered with sympathy, or told that this is simply a commercial decision made by BA & they know best, so just go suck it up, or fly another airline !!

For my part, as said at the outset, you have my sympathies, as I have "been there"

To avoid exaggeration, we usually come home with approx. 2 x 21kg and 2 x 15kg. Next trip will have a 5th bag coming home. That baggage allowance is one reason BA is important to us.

My JER-bound timings are from a dummy booking on 13 June [our booked return date].

Are you flying to Dulles? All three carriers have the same luggage allowance if so - 3 x 32kg per person.

Sorry - should have explained a bit more. The issue is the connecting sector to home (LGW-JER) on BA, where we retain the TATL allowance. Any other x-Channel operator will be charging us a lot of excess baggage fees.

Oh I see - at least it opens up the option of different flight times (perhaps taking the United day flight and sleeping at Heathrow), or just "sticking it to the man" and letting VS get the majority of your revenue.

More harrasment to the tax havens.

It might be because of the new flights the airport needs to change slots.

SEN has a new route as well.

This seems to be only the week day flights. Sat and Sunday are later.

Thanks for that - useful info. Doesn't solve our "Personal 3rd World Problem" though, as we need to fly mid-week to get UuA availability on the TATL

No problem with the outbound times, as we always night-stop in the LHR area before the 1010 to IAD the next morning, but the inbound is a PITA. So … having ground all the options, it seems we're going to be sat in the LGW Galleries Play-Pen for 6 hours, which after an overnight TATL is not going to be a load of fun for 4 elders. Can't fill some time in the T5 Arrivals Lounge either - the other two are lowly Blues flying in WT+, and we can't guest them.

Rejected IAD-LHR on 264 [2040-0915]: late checkout is pushing it at 1660, extra day's car rental needed, and Beltway traffic to get to IAD. Oh, and the later arrival at JER mean an extra day's cattery fees, as we now won't able to collect her before their cut-off time.

Anyway, enough of my "personal problems"
