The latest version (2010) of the First cabin (termed "Prime" internally by British Airways, or "New First") is available on all 4-class 777s and all 747s.
An newer evolution (2013) of the First seat (Prime+) is found on all A380s, and a newer version still (2015) is available on all 787-9s.
The older version of the First cabin (termed "Classic" internally by British Airways, or "Old First") has now been withdrawn.
747 information updated to 31 March 2016. Last change: withdrawal of G-BNLF, the last OF aircraft

But if everything else is equal and the guarantee of NF is enough to sway you, go for Shanghai.

Thank you Mark,
Never flown either route Shanghai or Beijing, hope to visit Terracotta Warriors, while there, from that point does it make any difference which airport, would like to try new first travelled LHR to Miami that was not NF, a really old plan .
Looking to tavel MAy next year, will the duststorms be over , is it a good time to visit the sites before the real busy period.
Sorry for all the questions, any advice much appreiacted.

We're flying to JFK tomorrow on BA113. Previously when I've checked our seats on MMB the seating chart showed a wardrobe between 1A and 1K. This has now disappeared from the seating chart for our outbound flight (it is till there on the chart for our return flight). Does this indicate whether our flight will have New First or Old First?
I've checked the statistics for NF on ftdashboard and it's showing 93% New First on our route to JFK, so I'm hoping that we'll get the refreshed cabin.

Thanks, that's a relief. It will only be our second First flight and a rare treat forced on us by lack of availability in Club, so I'd like to get NF if we're burning through slightly more of our miles collection than I originally wanted to spend!

NF from LGW?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. Didn't see it on page one, and apologies for not reading remaining 149 pages completely!
Is NF being fitted to 777s in LGW fleet (if indeed it is a different fleet)?
Flying to the Caribbean in January and wondering whether to get excited...
Thanks in advance for answers (good or bad!).
bmi G.

I wouldn't get too excited yet!!! The only real chance out of LGW is when you get an LHR plane on a maintenance swap, stranger things have happened though!
Having just done DEL and back this week in Old First, the best bonus is the ipads so you don't have to put up with the dreadful 8 channel 3" TVs!

The 777 operating on the route is a codeshare flight with AA and will be operated by one of there 777's
BA will operate 2 x 747's from LAX to LHR this winter down from 3 x 747 that have operated during the S11 schedule. The route operated 2 x Daily for most of the W10/11 season. This Winter BA have decided to suspend the BA279/BA278 rotation for the entire Winter Season. The BA283/BA282 and BA269/BA268 will see changes to there departure times from both LHR and LAX compared to W10.
BA will operate a Daily Hi-J 747 on the BA269/BA268 service. On the BA283/BA282 a Hi-J service will operate 4 x weekly (Days 3, 4, 5 & 6) and a Mid-J 3 x weekly (Days 1, 2 & 7)

LAX has been getting NF planes but with it been mostly a low J route, you have less chance than a high J route. I think more high J 747's have NF than low J's.
We would love to say yes you will have NF, but we can't.
Edit - If im reading BAflyguy's post above correctly. It sound like more high J's are going to be used on the LAX route and a high J 747 is going to operate on the 268 and on the 283 for your return on 21/3/12. So you should have a good chance of NF but remember at the minute nothing is guaranteed .

Has it been confirmed that G-CIVL is still OF, or is it a case of the information is just not known yet?
