I think any status match that gives a soft landing massively changes the value proposition regarding any fee charged...

I’ve just applied for Gold again - the fee is EUR79.
I currently still hold Gold till end March (from the 5 flights status match campaign) so will be interesting to see if this confuses matters.
The 5 flights campaign proved useful for me, I had some work flights to CPH that I could switch - and then a family weekend in Stockholm. The baggage allowance for HBO and the all-family members lounge access gave good value for me.
(I even blagged an Air India lounge and cabin upgrade as SAS were *A in the early months before the SkyTeam swap!)

Just got my status matched from BA Silver to EB Gold. Applied on 15/03 and got the approval email within 24 hours. The email said it would take up to 3 days to update in my account but now showing as gold a few hours later.
Paid EUR 79 on a brand new EB account, which has essentially given me gold for 2 years. Great offer

I have been flying SAS a fair bit in the last few years but have been putting my miles first on Miles and More and since the move, on KLM Flying Blue where I already had an account where I put my Delta flights (I never fly KLM). This was just a catch all account given that I didn't fly that group much. Now I am Silver on KLM (whatever). So, here is a question, if status match on SAS (Diamond), and I keep putting my points on KLM Flying Blue, what benefits will I not get when flying SAS?

Other than (up to 23) months versus 12 months with Flying Blue - is there any other reason why I should pick one status match over the other? I may end up doing quite a few KLM flights in the next year, (no SAS flights as far as I can see) and I just want to make sure I pick the right horse with these status matches! Normally I would have gone with Fling Blue as that is related to KLM but this one, and the longer expiry option has given me pause for thought!
Any insights from those that know the programmes better would be helpful.

I had a membership since before and the membership number in my confirmation mail is the same number Ive always had and is the same number I still have after the upgrade. The only difference is the prefix has changed from EBB to EBG.

Just matched my BA Silver, which has just two weeks left, to SK Gold. It looks like I can then eventually match with the SAS status to TK for *Gold. That will work quite nicely after my LX SEN runs out next February, as I'm based in ZRH.
Of course, who knows what further future status match opportunities we will see in the future?
