I went to set up an SAS eurobonus account and was rather surprised to find that I already had one and am Gold. Turns out I'd completely forgotten that I'd done the status match they did in summer 2024. What's rather strange is that the status match at the time was only meant to be until 31 March 2025, unless I took 5 flights. I've taken zero with SAS, but for some reason my gold membership runs until July 2026. Kicking myself as it would have been useful on a recent Argentinian trip.
Anyone got thoughts on whether I could apply the latest status match to this account and extend it for 2 more years, or if I'd be better setting up a new account?

Not in my case, I did not have to set up a new SAS account. Also their systems would not allow this.
in the original SAS status match, I was matched only to Silver. This time round SAS has been smart and recognised that 31/03/2026 for BAC is just round the corner , hence the new status match at a small cost for 24 months.

Mrs RC and I got confirmation of matches to Gold and Platinum yesterday - not yet showing in the app but should make our upcoming flights with Kenyan significantly more pleasant...
Side note - am I right in thinking SAS does send out physical membership cards?

Other than (up to 23) months versus 12 months with Flying Blue - is there any other reason why I should pick one status match over the other? I may end up doing quite a few KLM flights in the next year, (no SAS flights as far as I can see) and I just want to make sure I pick the right horse with these status matches! Normally I would have gone with Fling Blue as that is related to KLM but this one, and the longer expiry option has given me pause for thought!
Any insights from those that know the programmes better would be helpful.

One benefit of SAS that isnt often mentioned is that you still retain limited benefits with Singapore Airlines (priority checkin, SQ lounge access, plus a few other bits).
I also take advantage of the Scandic hotels status match with SAS as I stay at their hotels quite a lot. The tier they match you across to isnt that fantastic although it does come with some perks (2 for 1 breakfasts, restaurant vouchers), but it puts you within easy reaching distance of the higher tiers.

I can now get free breakfasts at Scandic even if I'm not staying apparently. Might have to try that out next month.
I have changed my KLM booking to my Eurobonus number but now the app suggests I should pay for lounge access.

interesting to see that reciprocal status also works in the other direction. Generous.

I am one of those who status matched my BA status to KQ about 2 days before SAS revealed their offering. Not sure I would be able to keep either status since I don't have that much flying lined up for this year but it's nice to have at least some status and also I could've at least saved a few $$ if my patience grew a little longer. I did try to play some mind games in terms of switching to another ST offering with Status Match but they sadly played it by the book. No refunds, no changes, following their T&C to the letter.

I matched from BA to SAS. I'm now Eurobonus Gold but when I try to link to Scandic Hotel it comes up with error. Will it be because I did not earn the SAS status and gained it through a ststus match?
