Many El Al planes are being relocated away from TLV, for obvious reasons, so expect a fair degree of upheaval over the next few days.

BA rebooked me on Ethiad
Called BA this morning. They tried to rebook me on Arkia to Lanarca or Athens and then back to Lon on BA. They seemed to have succeeded via Athens on Friday and sent me an email confirmation. Then said Arkia rejected the booking. Then they put us on Ethiad via Dubai on the 17th (interesting that BA can now use Ethiad-they did not offer that option before).
However will the airport re-open????!!!!! If not BA said call back to change. So far the ticket has now been changed three times and although I bought it on BA it seems that non of the legs are on a BA flight, but BA are taking responsibility

If the airport will re-open is fully in the area of crystal balls, I am afraid.

It's clear there will be no flying for the next few days, maybe weeks, and you wouldn't want to fly. I suspect it will be better to wait until the situation improves before rebooking.

Just got a cancellation email on my LY TLVCDG flight (that BA rebooked me on). Any idea if BA would put me on a Royal Jordanian flight from Amman to LHR instead (BAs own AMM-LHR flights are cancelled for the next few days)? Cant find any policy on the trade site.
TIA

Just called BA and was advised that I can only manage this booking including the refund via EL AL, according to their policy released at 10:20am. This doesnt sound right - anyone know how to access the policy? Thanks

I can't see this as being correct since El Al can't issue a BA refund. And you almost certainly don't want a refund. The whole issue is academic at the moment, there are going to be no flights from TLV or AMM for at least a few days, maybe longer, so I would urge you to just hold off until the situation improves. AMM is closed for the rest of today and I can see cancellations for tomorrow too. You are just in a situation where flying cannot happen for a while, and it's not useful to try and rebook anything right now.

Thank you - agree with you re EL AL. Amman, however is still open as we speak - I can see planes arriving and departing on Flightradar. That was the case over the weekend too. The cancellations are mainly by foreign carriers (RJ is flying).
I am planning to cross the border to Jordan, which is also open, but trying to see if BA can put me on RJ metal

I would agree with CWS that any refund would need to be handled by BA , but given that BA met its obligations by rebooking onto LY, then (unless I am missing something) it surely then comes down to LY to handle any rebookings in accordance with its policies.

My experience this morning is that BA are taking responsibility. Any way the LY web site says that if you booked through an agent (BA being the agent), then all changes or refunds etc must be through the agent. El AL will only look after customers who booked on LY website.
israel now advices not to try and leave through Jordan or Sinai (it was on channel 12 TV just now).

For an irrop on the day then yes it is LY, but BA here becomes a travel agent, so anything that needs surgery on the ticket has to go back to the travel agent, here BA. LY can't push the coupon to RJ unless they know BA will pay for something BA didn't arrange, if they get this wrong LY won't get any money from BA and will be lumped with the RJ bill. Moreover for the irrop scenario, one would normally expect to be put on the next flight or within a day or so, and from TLV. At the moment that seems unlikely for at least a few days.

If you hold a UK passport, at some point HMG will create an evacuation route out of Israel, if this goes on for more than a few days, as happened in Beirut.
