I can't see this as being correct since El Al can't issue a BA refund. And you almost certainly don't want a refund. The whole issue is academic at the moment, there are going to be no flights from TLV or AMM for at least a few days, maybe longer, so I would urge you to just hold off until the situation improves. AMM is closed for the rest of today and I can see cancellations for tomorrow too. You are just in a situation where flying cannot happen for a while, and it's not useful to try and rebook anything right now.
Thank you - agree with you re EL AL. Amman, however is still open as we speak - I can see planes arriving and departing on Flightradar. That was the case over the weekend too. The cancellations are mainly by foreign carriers (RJ is flying).
I am planning to cross the border to Jordan, which is also open, but trying to see if BA can put me on RJ metal…
