AA website will always show the AA codes but if the booking was made with BA then MMB on ba.com will tell you whether booked as AA or BA codeshares.
To use a GUF you would have to change the booking code to the AA code as the first step, then you need some kind of elusive AA upgrade sub-A bucket fare availability to use a GUF.
Some people seem to be able to do this easily and others not so easily, my suspicion has always been that it is slightly customer service rep-dependent, I have always had very good experiences.

As KARFA says, unfortunately you can't use the Jokers to help with this.

Thanks I have normally been able to use the Guf with no problems previously the issue I have is that there is no A award / redemption availability- but there is revenue availability and was hoping to use a joker to make A available

I have noticed that A award availability fur GUFs seemed to have dried up. Havent been able to book my last two bookings into Transcon First on AA using a GUF. Agent said that they had previously incorrectly booked into A revenue class but the system now prompts them to only book GUFs into Award space on AA.

I also wondered if they were restricting A buckets to revenue only, depending on when and if AA get rid of Transcon First etc later this year as they have been touting, in case the flights get rescheduled as a result

Hi, is it normal for D class availability to improve nearer a flight? J9 C9 D0 R0 I0 but the cabin only has 2 seats taken (I know that some seats might not have been chosen) I booked the flight for a couple of days later using the Space Release from D, and have set an alert for the two previous days for D space. Just wondered if there is a snowball's chance that they will free up? Thanks

Does anyone know if Club Europe has the same fare bucket requirement (D class) for using a joker? I can't seem to see D class on any short haul routes? Or is there a different bucket I can open for CE with the GGL reward?

D, R or I bucket should be OK for a Joker to upgrade into CE.
They certainly do sell D on SH routes, I quite often have to buy one EDI-LHR.

Not really any rush for anything else, if you are nominating partner cards try to nominate just after the card expiry date for your nominees (e.g. if they have an exec club year end 8th June nominate on 1st August and they get almost 2 years status; nominate 1st August 2024 and their card expiry date will be 31st July 2026). Please note that you will not receive any more partner cards until your next year rolls-over (i.e. 8th March 2025) assuming you have re-qualified as GGL (this is different from the situation with Jokers, as described above).
Apologies if in wrong place but my head is spinning from the TP year-end thread. Literally just landed from the requalifying flight for GGL after a few years' break. Current TP year end May 8th.

I'm sure the experts here have figured out the answers to my questions about the new regime: 1) When should I nominate partner cards for maximum longevity and 2) when do my "qualification" jokers expire/when do I get the "new year" ones? (I'm assuming still May 8th but easily be wrong)

Thanks!

With the new changes to the TP year, is it fair to say that you could potentially double dip 2 sets of benefits by 31 March 2025?

e.g. for someone's TP year ending 8 Jan 2025
Assuming 3000 TP gained 1 April 2024 to 8 Jan 2025, then you receive
1 set of benefits for 8 Jan 2025 + another set for 31 March 2025!

1. I don't think we know for sure yet but at the moment (in 2024) I would be looking to nominate partner cards the day after their current card expires. Henceforth (from 1st April 2025 onwards) it would be 1st May, which should give status until e.g. 30th April 2027.

2. I think that your Jokers this year may expire 31st March 2025 but then you would be re-issued 2 more on 1st April 2025. As the Jokers/Space-release aren't really shown officially online I think this is the most likely outcome with the GGL line not allowing anyone (other than GGLfL) to have more than 2 unused Jokers at a time. Speculation, though.

Potentially, yes.

My suspicion is that it would be very complex for them to try and avoid this, so I imagine that there will be new partner cards and Jokers for everyone who re-qualifies in the shortened 2024-2025 TP earning year. But as per above, I also believe any Jokers earned in 2024 will have a shortened expiry of 1st April 2025.

I too am trying to get my head around the impact of these changes for me.

My current year ends 8 February.
Between April 2024 and 8 February 2025 I expect to accumulate the 5k TPs required for GGL.
According to BA my following year will run 9 February 2025 - 21 March 2025 and be (temporarily) topped up with the TPs I accumulated during 1 April 2024 - 8 February 2025, which would be the full 5k.

I think the net effect of this is simply to extend my GGL benefits from this year until 30 April 2026 and give me until 31 March 2026 (rather than 8 February 2026) to accumulate 3k TPs, if I wish to extend GGL for another year. Are there any other pros/cons I'm missing for GGL members?

Yes, minimal effect on you.
Just a slight extension of your re-acquired GGL status with card expiry now 30th April 2026.

It is possible that you may have 2 Jokers to use 8th Feb 25 to 31st March 25, and these will then renew 1st April 2025.
It is also possible that you will get an additional x1 GUF2 and x2 GUF1 between 8th Feb 25 and 31st March 25, difficult to say for sure.

I am led to believe that there may be some clarification on the above points and more areas specific to GGL at some time this week.

Here is our situation given yesterday’s tier point year changes — I wanted to keep this out of the main thread since it’s specific to GGL, but would appreciate a second pair of eyes to make sure our understanding is correct:
  • Person A: GGL. TP year end 08 Jun 2024. Card expiration 31 Jul 2025. (Not sure why 2025)
  • Person B: Organic Gold or Partner Gold. TP year end 08 Nov 2024. Card expiration 31 Dec 2024.
  • Person C: Organic Gold or Partner Gold. TP year end 08 Feb 2024. Card expiration 31 Mar 2024.
  • Person D-F: Silver
Partner cards are issued on TP year renewal (09 Jun 2024, 01 Apr 2025, 01 Apr 2026). Assume GGL is re-earned each year.

If the partner cards don’t organically make enough for Gold, which sometimes happens, here is our plan:
  • 02 April 2024: Upgrade person C back to Gold. Gold should last until 30 April 2026. (25 months)
  • 02 Jan 2025: Upgrade person B back to Gold. Gold should last until 30 April 2026. (15 months)
  • 02 May 2025: Upgrade person C, if possible. Gold should now last until 30 April 2027?
  • 02 May 2026: Upgrade person B. Gold should last until 30 April 2028.
  • 02 May 2027: Upgrade person C. Gold should last until 30 April 2029.
  • and so on.
+ something similar for Person D-F each time they drop from Silver to Blue.
