Is there a fault with the aircraft then?

I seem to remember the biggest problem with Boeing deliveries was various tools and nuts and bolts left in the frame, particularly in the fuel tanks. So it flies, but it's not fit for purpose if you're buying a brand new vehicle...

G-XWBF is now sporting its final reg. delivery imminent

I guess we won’t be seeing any aircraft with the new F anymore. The 77W was meant to arrive with it I believe but I can’t see them investing in that now.

F-WZGB now registered as G-XWBF. 2nd CAF or delivery flight tomorrow???
Oops, apologies, opus99!

Hmm i think it’s possible these seats have already been built?

It would likely be far to late to change the seats on an aircraft delivering this year - particularly in the front of the aircraft where seats are heavily customised and take years to develop. So if a new first was planned to come on the aircraft, it likely still is.

Agreed, most of the expense has already been made in the redesign so makes little sense to revert back to the old seat. My understanding was it was a modified version of the 787 F seat (with the flaws corrected) and not a completely new F?

That’s very true.

I didn’t realise it was just another modified F, I thought there may have been more upgrades to compete with the Club Suite.

Yeah same as the 777-200ER retrofits I thought. A bunch already done with G-RAES being the first with 8F.

The brand new F seat was planning to be ready for the first 777-9X in 2022. Although that plan could be changing now. It does take a while to get these things sorted.

PGberkshire May 14, 2020 11:08 am

I’d say the A380, and even more so the 787-9/10 First is better than club suites
so anything the 777x deploys will be much better (either modified 787 or new seat)

opus99 May 14, 2020 1:13 pm

Yes the 77W will be sporting a modified version of what’s on the 787-9/10. Will probably be bigger also seeing as the cabin is wider. The 779 will sport a brand new first class and any further changes to club suite following customer feedback.

PGberkshire May 14, 2020 3:10 pm

So the 77w is the 777-8 ?

A 77W is a B777-300ER

PGberkshire May 14, 2020 3:15 pm

Ok, so they will get a modified 787/9 first and the new 777x will get a new a first seat?

if it’s the “new” F seat I’ve seen then it’s broadly a re-work of the 789 seat with a low sliding door, though this was several months ago so who knows now!?
