Could someone help me with an availability check?
I want to go GLA to LIM with any Star airline in business or first; outbound mid November, returning late November. Would go from EDI, MAN or LHR as an alternative if that's easier. Thanks in advance for any help! |

CO go from IAH daily, but a quick look at a few days around "mid" and "late" November (which are pretty broad paramaters) didn't reveal any availability at all. AC have three a week from YYZ, I can only see business availability outbound on 15th and inbound on 26th. JJ have lots of business award availabily from GRU daily. So you could create a routing via Canada, if you fancy a stopover there, and/or via Brazil. |

direct flights MAN-MCO on VA in July
Hi, I'm new to this & appreciate any help people can give me. I'm looking for 3 seats in economy from Manchester to Orlando after July 23 (or possibly 16th), staying for about 18-20 days. I'm happy to pay the extra miles to go direct with Virgin, but when I called there was no availability on 23-25, although she said flights might not be released yet. Re the return, she said booking isn't yet opened. Can anyone give me any advice when I should call again, & how likely I am to get these flights? (The alternative convoluted multistop routings are just too much hassle, and cost so much in tax too they are hardly worth it!) Thanks.

Once that point (330 to 360 days out) has passed, the airlines manage their inventory (including inventory available for redemption bookings) in different ways. You'll see this for yourself when you search for award availability. |
LHR -> SYD Help
Hi,
I am trying to find a one way redemption from LHR to SYD late July 2011 or early Aug 2011 for 3 people in Biz. I can find 3x LHR-FRA-BKK, but from BKK to SYD I can only find econ. I tried LHR-ICN-SYD, but can only find biz for 2 ppl. I also checked LHR-SFO-SYD, there is availability SFO-SYD for 3 in biz but not availability LHR-SFO (even via FRA). Anyone got any ideas? Thanks |
3 seats is hard to find on the same flight. Harder to find when looking for Business. Even harder when looking for SYD when SQ does not release award availability in Business or First on A380 or 77W. You could try LAX too on UA or NZ LHR-LAX then UA LAX-SYD.
Also, LHR-FRA on LH, FRA-SIN on SQ 744 and SIN-SYD on SQ 772 (SQ219), if available. I'm just saying it would be extremely hard, if not impossible, to find 3 Business seats on the same flights to SYD. |
BA6501 's advice is spot on, bagging 3 seats can be hard. Try some creative routing via the US as suggested, also try using BNE, MEL and AKL as end points to expand your search options. You may need to buy a cheapo connection on NZ, VirginBlue or JetStar but an hour or two on a domestic flight in Aus is worth it for 3 seats and 21+ hours in F or C.
Personally for 3 seats I would book in what you can get now and then change down the track if availability opens up, its only GBP20 to do so. |

There are exceptions, but as a general rule using miles for economy class is not regarded as the best way to use them. I didn't think I stood much chance of getting 3 business seats during school holidays - hence only aiming for economy. Is this assumption correct? Also, don't the taxes work out a lot more on a business flight - especially with multiple stops? |

San Francisco - Brisbane (routing rules)
Hi there, searched through threads to find an answer but can't, so hopeful someone can help.
Using up as many of my miles as I can so as well as doing loads of travel myself, some of my relatives and friends are getting cheap front of the plane travel too. Anyway for the 2 lucky recipients of cash & miles biz tixs to Brisbane from San Francisco ... They want to know if they can route it via Tokyo, using ANA, stop there and then get into Brisbane via Auckland with Air NZ (they are retired so have stacks of time on their hands). Availability is there for when they want to go if the route is broken down SFO-NRT then NRT-BNE. There is no direct flight SFO-BNE, closest is Sydney, so what's the chances of getting this itinerary booked as a valid one? I guess they could say the alternative more direct route would be SFO-SYD-AKL-BNE or SFO-AKL-BNE (which is what the Star Alliance routing tool shows) but there is no availability on the dates they want for that routing. So does anyone know for sure if it is a valid routing US-Australia via the Far East if there is no direct flight between the US and the final destination city? Or do you think they will make me split the booking into 2 awards? Any help much appreciated. Cheers Jonny |

There will also be more people planning ahead and looking for those seats, but I'd be fairly optimistic if I was starting my search this far out (and being flexible about where I connect).
