Quite...

To quote a previous thread.....

As to the change of origin &/or destination within the same zone?

Pune always say no, FOM say yes, Pune say no, FOM say yes, Pune put FOM on hold and talk to Big Boss Supervisor who say yes, Pune make change, FOM pay £20 and win again.
Done it more times than I can remember.

No, it doesn't. No change in zones, so requires nothing but a recalculation of the taxes plus £20.

Thats good to know. Thanks.

Hi folks,

I am looking at an ORD connection challenge for a redemption booking for my wife and I on ZRH-ORD-LAS in the summer. It is for a Wednesday LX arrival at 1535 and departing on UA at 1655, so its a 80min connection time. Which leads me to 2 questions:

i) is it even worth considerng the 80min connection at ORD? The next flight gives a 4.5hr layover :(
ii) considering its a redemption, will they rebook us on the next flight (for free) if we don't make it?

Thanks in advance...

Ignore this one now folks. Found a better routing with a 2-3 hr connection in ORD. Should be safer...

Any chance that I could get JFK-ZRH-TLV(STOP)-IST-BKK booked?

Only one way to find out - call the ICC and give it a go.
You may run into problems, seeing as both Thai (TG971/LX4300) and Swiss (LX180) will fly you direct from ZRH-BKK, as well as several other more direct routes from JFK-xxx-BKK.
Then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained...

LHR - South America Practical Experience

Can I reasonably expect to ticket these on a Z1-Z5 redemption:

LHR-EWR-GRU [8222 Miles]
LHR-IAD-GRU [8414 Miles]
LHR-ORD-GRU [9175 Miles]

Most Direct:

LHR-LIS-GRU [5887 Miles]
LHR-ZRH-GRU [6448 Miles]
LHR-FRA-GRU [6480 Miles]

Will it make a difference if I go for F on UA (as TP doesn't have F)

Not possible, as they are all back track.

Just "longer way round", surely ?

Indeed. Plus those routings have certainly been done by others in the past according to the successful redemptions thread.

South America via North America should be ok, I've just come back from Brazil GIG-CLT-LGW on US (and the Envoy seats on the 767 are not bad at all for angled lie flats), no issues at all in getting it booked.

Good luck in finding CO availability through EWR though! I think you'll have a better chance of getting UA.

Thanks jjjjohn, Oxon Flyer, RAPC, BHDBOY. It's 3-1 as 'doable' at the moment.

zanderblue Feb 14, 2010 4:32 pm

Would LHR-FRA-MCO return be deemed as valid routing or is it likely to be considered as back tracking?
Also would it be 45k miles plus taxes or is there the additional 7.5k for connecting flight?

thanks
