First and foremost, WELCOME to FlyerTalk, we are glad to have you with us!

I'm not trying to be rude to you here, but many FlyerTalkers, including myself, resent when someone asks a question which has been asked and answered MANY times, on this and other threads. In this case, there have ELEVEN other posts (other than yours), in this thread alone, over the last six months, and if you go back one year, there have been TWENTY-NINE other posts, with information about A113400.

Please be proactive for yourself, and when you see a very old, and continuing (meaning there are daily or almost daily submissions) thread, use the SEARCH feature, which is offered by FlyerTalk, at the top of each page, and put in the keyword(s) for what you are interested in. In this case, the keyword would simply be either "A113400," or "State of Florida employee," or something similar, and see what comes up. This will accomplish two things. First, it will get you the answer you seek much faster by showing you all the posts for that issue, and second, it will avoid cluttering up the thread with the same or similar questions over and over.

Because this is a very important thread for frequent Avis renters (and other threads are similarly important for other, but similar, reasons for other FlyerTalkers), we do not want to mess it up by making threads longer and more tedious than they need to be because of repetitive postings for asked and answered issues. Repetitive posts make useful threads into cluttered threads, and of less interest to regular readers and posters.

I hope you understand that I am trying to be constructive with this explanatory posting, for you and for others, and not trying to be intentionally critical of you personally.

I was getting the error message noted above. I logged into my Avis account and changed My Preferences to show A972200 as my AWD. Now when I retrieve my reservations I do not get the error message. And I does not matter if I search for my reservation logged in to my account or not.

Hopefully this is the solution and this great code will continue to work.

Let this mark the 2nd time I've cried wolf on this code...

I got the rate to work again so maybe it was just blacked out over spring break. The weird thing now is that the reservation isn't appearing in My Avis, but I saved the e-mail confirmation and the reservation is still active, including my wizard number. I'll likely just plan on the car being there, and if I don't see my name on the board I'll go with someone else rather than risk flagging the code...

Don't even try to use the State of FL code because Avis requires ID and will give you a hard time if you are not an employee entitled to use the discount.

Inside of Florida, this is definitely true, but outside of Florida, not so much.

Many people have used the Florida code outside of Florida and had good results. However, IMHO, if you have a Texas or Montana DL, and try to use the State of Florida code in Ohio, I would expect an odd look, at the very least. I have a Florida DL, and have used the code OUT OF STATE several times, with no issues. Of course, YMMV!

This code is not working for me. It doesnt matter where or when I try the code, it comes back with the same crappy rate I get using my crappy code.

Hey I_Sue, remember me from your trip to Fort Lauderdale, when we met for lunch? Andy here, if you do not remember.

From what I understand, A972200, which WAS the code for Farmer's Insurance/Zurich Insurance (Zurich is parent company), and which I have used in the past, with success, has recently been discontinued.

Try either A177253 (USAA), or D833357 (American Society of Travel Agents), or A074800 (Citicorp Leisure Travel), or W661100 (Choice Rewards). Hopefully one of those will give you a better rate. If not, please send me a private message, and I will offer you some other suggestions.

See my experience below with A113400 I do not encourage anybody that is not a Florida State Employee to use the code .

Within the State of Florida I only get asked for ID at counter type of transactions , if you are a preferred member and the rate is built in into your profile and you are renting out of an Airport let's say Orlando or Fort Lauderdale. You will just pick up the car and go. (Do not even try to this in Tallahassee that is just asking for trouble, they will note you account)

In my several out of the State trips not even once I have been asked for ID regardless if I had to go to the counter or not.

Some consultants use the State rate when they were travelling on State related business.

Traveling using the state rate does not give you milles, Avis credits nor will help you achieve any status beyon being a preferred member (I have rented hundreds of cars during the last 6 years)

you can return the car in a different location without a surcharge (anywehere in the State of Florida, it worked in NY state for me as well)

They won't charge you an underage surcharge if you are under 25* (make sure you have a prefered profile for this one, I also do not recomend counter transactions)

US - of course I remember you, Bimi Boat Yard or somthing like that.

A074800 (Citicorp Leisure Travel) worked, knocked $13 buck off my rental, came out to $39 per day instead of $52. But I miss the $33 per day that A972200 had.

Yes, Bimini Boat Yard was the place.

Did you try the USAA AWD number? Private message me for another idea.

Does anyone have any experience with expired coupon codes that are still being accepted by the website?

One such coupon code is UUGA026 from the Costco magazine that was supposed to expire in 2006:

Has anyone used A679100 was asked to produce proof?

Gosh, the rates at Big Island are astronomically high! Most other AWDs produce a $300+ weekly compact all in price tag!

One confirmation that this code works well. Any others? Thanks in advance.

By the way, the Island Air code (D802300) was not competitive for the time I wanted. Base rate $738 for 16 days in September. $346 with A679100 (16 days). My corp rate is about $560.

Please tell me that you are not complaining about $346 for 16 days! (works out to $21.63 per day)

I just used A113400 for pickup at DCA, with no complications whatsoever. GREAT RATE, $24.00 per day, plus taxes and fees, $99.31, all in, for a three day rental, pick up Friday noon, drop off Monday noon. (Chairman's Club upgrade from mid-size to Cadillac SRX4 luxury suv, with pre-installed GPS.)
