I am trying to book a car in May for LAX. I have been reading quite a bit in this thread noting that the Bombadier codes they usually check for ID. If I am checked, can I just give them one that is valid (like Costco) and they will change it on the spot and it is good? Thanks for your help!

There is no code that is more or less likely to get checked when you're using a corporate code you're not authorized for. If the agent is going to check they are going to check regardless if it says ABC Corp Employees or XYZ Corp Employees. Think about it logically.... It's not like they're going to say, "Hmm... This guys looks like he could work for Microsoft, but I just don't see him being a Bombardier guy, so I better make sure."

And no, at that point, the jig is up. You've lost. You can't just switch to the Costco code. Either pay the walk-up rate or literally walk with your tail between your legs. There are so many legitimate ways to get a great rate, why bother taking a chance using a discount you're not authorized for?

Thanks, that is what I needed to hear. I am going to be paying about $50 more using a code I am authorized for but that is still better than paying hundreds more when they likely deny my code at the counter.

Rates change all the time. Even if you have the best rate available today, there may be something better tomorrow. Best to keep checking use the link below to track it. You may find that you can do even better than the corporate code, assuming that you have a bit of time before your pickup date.

B270898 is not working ....I get the low rates but when I pick the car selection, I get "The rate code you entered requires an Avis World Wide Discount (AWD) number. Please go back and enter your AWD number or remove the rate code you entered."

I am only entering B270898 as the AWD code and other fields are empty.

I will be in Germany in May and trying to get the best price on Avis. Would I be better off trying to book through the German Avis web site or the US site? Maybe specific codes exist for the German site? It seems I cannot use any of the US coupon codes and apply to my rental at the Munich airport location.
Thanks,
Jeff

Best to check with US and German sites as prices can vary widely. US coupons won't work outside US/CA/MX/PR. There are some deals on the Avis German website here (English translation). You can also use the links below to request a quote from AutoSlash.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I did request a quote from autoslash yesterday, but no Avis quotes. Any reason why?
Thanks,
Jeff

Any guidance for Changi/SIN?

Tried AutoSlash, but only got normal vehicles with Sixt - need a minivan of sorts...

I used it there. Keys ready, no questions asked, nice upgrade. I also seamlessly extended my original rental at the same (very good) price from a local station (Sandton).

Because of the deeply discounted rates we offer, your initial search may return limited or no results for some locations because of our supplier agreements. Just go to www.autoslash.com/quote to submit your rental details, and we’ll reply back in 15 minutes or less with the best discounted rates we can find across all companies.

I made an AVIS reservation with Autoshlash. How do you I get the AA miles?
Just submit my AA# at the rental counter?

The State of California does not recognize an International Driving Permit (IDP) as a valid driver license. California does recognize a valid driver license that is issued by a foreign jurisdiction (country, state, territory) of which the license holder is a resident. The IDP is only a translation of information contained on a person's foreign driver license and is not required to operate a motor vehicle in California.
