Has anybody had an luck with Florida state employee code?

USirritated Aug 16, 2010 3:26 am

Lots of people have had luck with the Florida State Employees code, but a word to the wise, you'd best have either an employees ID, or at the very least, Florida residency and driver's license, because that is one code that is usually checked by ID verification!

Wow, A972200 got me 2 days SF-Fisherman's Wharf for $58 base ($68 ai) compared to $98 for the Walmart code (above) and $160 for Costco.

SLC Sep/4-12 code?

Trying to book Full-Size (or better yet - minivan) for above dates.
Seems Hotwire can do $236.xx - any codes to make this cheaper with Avis (or others)?

Thanks,

What Avis codes have you already tried and how did the rates compare?

Have you tried autoslash.com? carrentals.com?

Tried all the codes in the last several pages & carrentals.com - all were more expensive (between $30 to $140 more).
Autoslash (which is new to me, thanks!) is $50 more expensive.

TIMTIM -
This appears to be a great AWD, but who's is it? I tried an employee code at MCO last year and couldn't get the rate on arrival - BIG HASSLE at the counter! Don't want that scene again.

I'm surprised A972200 was more than HotWire. Usually I have to go down one car class with HW in order to beat the price using A972200.

For anyone please note: A972200 gives you 750 driving miles with an additional 25 cents per mile over 750. Use for city rentals only. If you are going to take a long/med trip you might find a huge surcharge at the end.

Check out the codes from mile marker #1114 if you haven't already.

Edit: Also try A074800. I've used it many times without any problems. I believe it is a code for Citicorp Leisure Travel.

HW still wins - your last coded actually came close - except the HW price includes the taxes...

Unless the city is very highly booked, I still find HW/PL can often beat the best discount code offering by a few bucks.

We're talking about the opaque HW/PL bookings, correct?

Yes. But you pre-pay with HW/PL opaque bookings and if your plans change... too bad. Also, you go to the line for the counter and can't take advantage of memberships like Budget FastBreak, Hertz #1 Gold, Avis Preferred, etc. Thirdly, I rarely get upgraded in car class with opaque bookings. And finally if you have a coupon code for some substantial miles or a free day this can not be applied to HW/PL bookings.

I usually look at the incremental difference in price and if it is only a few bucks ("few" is subjective I realize) and I have a good coupon code for x,xxx number of bonus miles I usually eat the extra money and enjoy skipping the long lines, the extra miles, and possible upgrade.

Beware of the A113400 (florida state employee) AWD!!! Just got back from our trip to Hawaii. Reserved 3 times at Oahu and Maui originally, at HNL site, the contract could not be printed out since the rate had some problem, and clerk had to ask for a supervisor/manager. Manager looked at it, and asked where i worked but luckily not the working ID. Eventually the manager had to manually straighten out everything for a 3-day rental. This sounded alarm for me and I had to do a last minute PL bidding for our maui rental. I also canceled our last HNL one-day rental with this awd, and used the Hawaiian airline code which gave the same rate. So be prepared.

Anyone has a good code for Avis rental in France?

kalla2002 Aug 30, 2010 4:11 pm

A972200

Just tried out A972200 for my one way trip from Boston to NY...
Great deal (~50$/day) end of Sep 2010...

In one of the upper posts I have learned that 750 miles are included (add. miles 0,25$)

I was wondering if anybody already used that code for one way rentals and if any drop off fee will hit me and kill the deal!?!

Unfortunately there are no additional information available on the AVIS web page...

thx for your help!!!
