I rented at SEA a few weeks ago with no documentation check. I've rented from other stations in May, June, and July also with no checks-- but it's unclear if checks are rolling out gradually after the email warning that started appearing months ago.

I rented in SLC last month and there was no check -- in fact, the exit booth guy was from a third-party security company and I think he just checked my license. I just noticed that my confirmation email for that rental had this verbiage as well.
I keep my insurance card with my company logo on it, so I hope that is adequate. It is sufficient at a local museum that gives employees and their guests free admission. -J. |
No problem with AWD so far
I have used the corporate AWD code for 35 years before retiring 5 years ago. I still use the code. I didn't have any checks at SAN or RNO in the last several weeks. I added an old company ID to my travel backpack just in case. Thanks for the warning. I haven't received any warning emails. I checked the terms and conditions for the discount code and didn't find anything about being an active employee or former employee.

I was not asked for my work ID when I went to the counter at the IAD location.

No issues or request for ID proof for discount at the ATL location.
|
BNA has bold signs on the booth windows that anyone using an AWD needs to have proof of validity. They didn't require me to show my business card when I picked up my car recently.

Anyone with recent DP's at TPA?

Heh... I found my Avis PC card with the company name on it from when the contract switched to Avis. That'll be helpful since I don't travel with my company ID :)

-J. I ran across an Avis at Leesburg, fl, that read about just what you're proposing and they decided on their own to demand proof of current employment. I wonder how far this will go where the company contract also includes personal travel |

I wonder how far this will go where the company contract also includes personal travel I guess I'll keep my insurance card with me, even though I'm not even on that plan anymore. Maybe I should just email my employee travel department and have them write me a letter  What a joke. Dear Rogue Avis Empl:rolleyes:yee, Please be advised that GW McLintock works for XXX Corporation and is entitled to your ........ discount., XXX Corporation |
These shenanigans were enough for me to use my AA Plat status and get status matched to National for Executive Elite status. I've been much happier with them since I made the switch.

Do things continue to run smoothly for Preferred Members when using airport locations that have the skip-the-counter boards?

So far yes, but I would be happy to hear from those that had problems there |
As an alumnus, I'm entitled to use my alma mater's contract "leisure" rate when renting from Avis, Budget, and Hertz. I've never been asked for ID, but I'm hoping that my class ring -- with my name engraved in it -- will suffice. If not, I guess I'll have to start traveling with a copy of my college transcript!
