Don't think I saw this example before. I got my Avis status from United and on their website they have an AWD number that I used in my Avis account. How do you prove you are allowed to use it from being an elite United member -- or do they know it is a customer one not an employee one? Thanks!

looks like they are trying to get more serious about this, perhaps on a company by company basis or auditing what you put in your own profile?

I was wondering how it went for you at Avis. I know this is an old post. I'm in a pickle as all I have are business cards (just received them) and the woman that rented me my car did NOT seem happy with me that I didn't have any proof of my company ID at the time. She said when you come back I'll decide if what you present as proof will be sufficient, so she charged me the regular rate for now and said she'd adjust if she deemed it suitable. Yikes. I really don't want to pay an extra $500 out of pocket because she's on a power trip. Any chance just a business card will work? It's a non airport location but she's friends withthe woman that works at the airport location so I'm not sure if going to the airport would save me any trouble. Thanks for any pointers you might be able to provide! |

thanks for the quick reply. I do but they were asking for ID. I was shocked that she had no mercy on me even though I called ahead to explain my wallet including company id and license was stolen so I would have to present a temp license until dmv sends me my new one in 2-3 weeks, but that I had a passport to back up my identity. She said this was fine over phone then gave me hell about my license AND the missing company ID. i was able to secure business cards and i hope that does the trick. As for company email, what do I do just print out one of many emails I've received at my work email? ps i found this online
"This reservation was made using a corporate AWD (Avis Worldwide Discount Code) that requires validation of eligibility. Please be prepared to produce your company ID, business card, or a recent email with the company’s email domain (e.g. xyzcompany.com) for employment verification purposes when picking up your vehicle." so does this mean just my biz card is enough or do I have to print out an email too? I'm tempted to go to a differnet drop off just to avoid this woman but wonder if only she holds the power to go back and give me the AWD company discount since I booked with her. thanks again |
Rented at DCA the other day (one of the last days before they moved off-site) and my name wasn't on the Preferred board and the only cars the app would let me select were pickup trucks, so I physically had to check with an agent, who didn't even mention my AWD let alone ask for proof.
Out of curiosity, would a photograph of a business card work if asked? I keep one on my phone, but don't physically carry them (I don't even think I have any at present). |
Has anyone who previously verified with company email ever been asked to produce "proof" of eligibility for AWD?
I get this message via multiple emails before every rental and have yet to be asked for anything. In fact on most occasions I never speak to a human at the rental facility, but rather just scan the QR code from the app, and the gate opens... |

This is at a small airport station in the university's town, and I have not been asked for proof on subsequent rentals. The station manager -- who is often at the shared Avis/Budget counter -- now recognizes me. No automation here: all renters must go to the the counter, even if they are Avis Preferred or Budget Fastbreak. |
Had a colleague who was recently asked for proof of employment for our corporate rate; he showed his work ID and that was accepted. This is the first time I've ever heard of this actually happening to someone I know.

FYI I have received this email the 20 or so times I have booked using my corporate AWD code in the past year - but it has only asked me for a work email when booking, and I have never been asked for any proof in person ever. I have mostly used the app, but the few times I went to the counter, I was in and out with no issue.
YMMV One rental at LAX, one at BOS, all other rentals at EWR. I know EWR is pretty fully booked most days so they might just be in a hurry. I do keep my work email address and a pic of my work badge + business card with me at all times though. Our corporate rate is too good to risk passing up. |
Work ID check at LUIHUE airport in Kauai?
Hi I got the same auto email that my work badge will be verified, but on the thread a lot of people said if the rental is from the airport rather than at an offsite location, they haven’t had to present it. Anyone have to present their work ID at the the Lihue airport Avis?
