This is not true. If you read my posts #112/#117 in this thread you will see that the adjusted refusal rate for Argentines was 4% in 2007.
Of the people I know who have entered the US with an intention to overstay, non of them have applied for a tourist visa (since they surely knew they would be refused). Most of them gained an Italian or Spanish passport via a grandparent, and entered under the visa waiver program. John |

Gardel was born in Uruguay - though no Argentine would ever admit to it (as if it really matters).

Wrong,,, try Toulouse France, and it doesnt matter as he considered Argentina as his place of birth certainly not Uruguay. As far as tango in Uruguay,,Buenos Aires ( not the rest of Argentina) ranks first then before Uruguay,, NYC, Italy Berlin and Tokyo have more and better tango than Uruguay,,, ( Finland even claims tango but it is a different tango)
This link might clarify it for you. Maybe a good stop for those visiting Uruguay? http://www.welcomeuruguay.com/tacuar...el-museum.html |

I agree with your third point - but not the first two.

And the US does this usually for a reason. Because they don't have sufficient proof that the person in question will actually return. .

It appears that implementation of the tax has been postponed (apparently to March). US citizens have reported this arriving at EZE today. Eastbay1K should be able to report in soon too ....
Feliz aņo nuevo John |
That is good to hear.
I'm flying PDP-AEP on 1/7 so I'm hopeful I won't have to pay. |
I am reporting that as of approx. 7:40pm local time, there is no fee.

From the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade website:
http://www.voyage.gc.ca/countries_pa...asp?id=11000#4 Argentine officials have announced a reciprocity fee will be charged to citizens of countries that require a visitor visa for Argentine citizens, including Canada. The tentative date for the application of this fee is March 1, 2009. The entry fee will be payable at airports on arrival. |
