Thanks for reporting back on this.... this is a question that gets asked a lot and I didnt have a real life situation to back up my assessment.

My pleasure, Gaucho. And interestingly, our hostess in BA, a close friend, seemed visibly unhappy we had avoided the fee. Great trip, though. We had a great view of the fireworks over the weekend and Monday from the hotel. We are are still not sure why they were presented. Was it Flag Day?

Are you serious....? Thats quite strange..... why would she have an interest in you paying the fee. Are you sure you interpreted her correctly....?

I should tell you that when I had warned her I was going through SCL in an effort to avoid the fee she was quite confident I would fail and told me so in no uncertain terms. I think her unhappiness was a grounded in her certainty we would pay. She also personally resents the US fees as she has had to pay them herself. But she was ultimately quite happy as she took us shopping and watched the saved fee money deposited into the local economy several times over. It was another pleasurable trip to the wonderful city of BA.

I was also very surprised to learn Father's Day is the same day in Argentina. She took us out to Tigre on Sunday on the train where we went to the amusement park, casino and gigantic flea market.

Very strange stance on her part, especially since she works in the tourism service industry.... well, regradless, glad you had a good time... ^ :D
