The Marriott in EZE is "old school" in its style... so be sure you are happy with traditional/classic architecture and decor. I happen to like the hotel, but if you are into the new hip style W-Hotel or the newer Hiltons, then maybe this hotel is not for you.

The rooms can be wonderful or horrible...some are really tiny...and others rather grand but in the same catagory. Friends from SF stayed there last year on points and the first room they were shown to was a closet and they refused. After a discussion with the front desk they were finally put in a rather nice room. So just be aware.

Personally I do not like the location...just around the corner from the rather overly touristy Calle Florida and overlooking the Plaza San Martin which as of late experienced some problems with crime directed towards tourists. Nothing violent, an old trick where one will spray some nasty stuff on the back of your jacket and a couple of others will run to "assist you" in cleaning it off...while they steal your camera or whatever they can grab while you are distracted.

That being said, it is a grand old hotel with very good service.

Maybe you should try to email or fax the GM and ask them if they can accomodate you with nice room for a one week award stay...? A nice polite letter reminding them of your status will sometimes do wonders at these chain hotels.

BsAs Mariott

Stayed there several weeks ago (on an award). Yes, rather old school, definitely in need of new paint, putty, etc., etc. Not up to the standards of Marriotts in other locales, not impressed. Told us we did NOT get breakfast when using an award while those paying did. Room elevator is actually up a flight of stairs because of the small lobby. Our (free) room was decent sized and quiet.

All that said given your price for the week, i.e. $0, I'd stay there. On the other hand 115,000 points could better spent and there are some bargains still to be found in BsAs.

Wirelessly posted (Palm TX: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D050; Blazer/4.3) 16;320x320)

Regardless of where you stay, if you come during winter, the very best Argentine Puchero is served at the Grill at the Marriott.

So... who knows what Puchero is...?

A puchero is a traditional meal made of beef, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, carrots, do I win the prize?

Hmmm... well, yes... but only if you know the answer because you have actually had Puchero. No prize for using Google...

OK yes, you won a bottle of Malbec!! ^ @:-) PM me and we can arrange for us to meet so you can collect your prize...

Actually, Puchero is composed of various meats (not only beef) and a very wide selection of vegetables and side dishes..... the real Puchero has chicken, pork, various sausages, (sometimes even lamb), and the veggies include pumpkin, spinach, celery, onions, various varieties of beans, etc. etc. etc. Its the ideal winter time feast!!! ^

I stayed in the Marriott a couple of months ago. It was perfectly fine. The room was a decent size, housekeeping did a nice job each day, and we found the location to be central to many places we wanted to go -- Recoleta and Puerto Madero are both within walking distance. However, as others have mentioned, it is an older hotel. There was a small pool area with a nearby restaurant/bar with hit or miss service. You will likely have a perfectly acceptable experience at this hotel, but it won't be incredible either.

Anyone have any recent experience with upgrades at the Marriott in BA? I am Platinum and arriving around the 12th or 13th of June. I have read many reviews in many forums and books (many mixed) of the Marriott and am actually psyched to stay there. I enjoy the grandness of the legendary structures. I plan on emailing the GM about a week ahead to grease the wheels. any other suggestions? thanks.

My family & I will be in B.A. from Jun 13-17 and 19-21, 2008. We are staying at the Marriott Plaza in BA. In Igauzu Falls area we will be at the Sheraton. We have never been to BA before so don't know much except what I have read on FT. I am planning to email the Marriott and Sheraton a few days before we arrive to beg them for upgrades!
