Thanks in advance for the help. I see some on Kayak from 4/9 to 4/16 for $850. 24 hour in length, though. Shorter trips will cost you more. $1k for 16 hours duration. Start looking on Kayak.com then you can check individual sites, although I never found anything less through other sites. |
Senior female traveling solo
Let's start with the basics. I have been to 117 countries and always travel by public transportation and love to walk everywhere. I am not a tourist I am a traveler and I love to do off the beaten path things and find things that locals do.
I have been to some sketchy places but I have never felt so unsafe as I had on my recent trip to SCL. Because of that I am posing this question. In SCL everybody from the hotel, which handed out warning sheets, to my uber drivers, to my tour guides made me feel I was about to be robbed, knocked down, purse stolen and ripped off. I did get ripped of by a taxi, but none of the other things happened. As a result, was constantly looking over my shoulder, and this is from someone who is always aware of her surroundings. I wasn't a pleasant time. From what I have read/heard BsAs is worse the SCL. Now I am reading on here that the hotel I was looking at, The Park Tower is in a bad area. I have read about the squeezing paint or mustard and these stories pop up on other message boards and it seems like it's happening all of the time. I have been to BsAs in 1998 with my DH and DS and enjoyed it and didn't have any problems. Do these scams target certain profiles. Would a 60 plus solo woman be a typical target. I know to take off all my jewelry, not carry anything valuable burn seems like if I take out my iPhone to look at it I am making myself a target. I am ending a cruise in BsAs and due to air need to stay for two days. I can also do 4 days. I I love doing walking tours and walking everywhere and it seems there is so much to do. I just can decide if it's worth it if I am feeling than am under siege. I am now going to look at another hotel. Would Recoleta be the safest place? Again, sorry about sounding dramatic but I have received more warnings and heard more bad things about BsAs then I did when I went to CPT and other places in South Africa. Are all these stories exaggerated? Gracias |

(More going on in the evenings and allot of places to walk to) near the Park Tower at night you may feel insulated. In any event, don't worry and take those (4) days and enjoy. The Free Green Shirt Walking Tours are fun as well.. Safe Travels. |

Yes. I've no doubt that someone as well travelled as you will have been to many more less safe cities than Buenos Aires and survived them without incident. No point in me reminding you to follow the usual rules...you already know them.
Enjoy. ^ |
NYE and 2 Other Questions
My wife and I will be arriving in Buenos Aires at 11 a.m. on Dec 31 and were wondering how we could find out what was going on for NYE. Often Time Out is helpful in this regard, but not much seemed to be listed on its site. Is there a newspaper or online source we can check? Likewise, any suggestions for people who like music, dance clubs and interesting bars but don't necessarily want to be surrounded by *only* 20-somethings? We will be staying at an apartment in Palermo Soho, if that's helpful.
Question 2: is it better to pay for a taxi from EZE in US $, pesos, or credit card? Question 3: are there places to buy a SIM card at EZE? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. |

Question 2: is it better to pay for a taxi from EZE in US $, pesos, or credit card? Credit card (assuming no fees assessed by your issuer) is almost just as good as cash now for your taxi. I am currently using CCs in Argentina for the first time in several years. |
I am looking at award travel from EZE to MIA for next December ( looking up to Nov 30th for now) and am concerned about the connection time of 1 h 20min in Lima.
Is that enough time? Flight has one stop and this is it. I would hate to miss my connection. thanks |

Are both flights with LAN? If so it could be a one stop service so it's probably the same aircraft. You can just hang about the gate.

NYE is dead city in Buenos Aires. .

It looks like a one stop flight on the same aircraft just with different flight numbers. I wouldn't be concerned as I assume it's all on one ticket.
|
These flights are with Avianca.
And it is normally the same plane that does both sectors. I did this routing in March and it was the same 330 on both flights |
