Thanks!

Just FYI for others looking at these options, Taxi Ezeiza has an English-language booking website, and I have not found the same for Tienda Leon.

I found the site in English, but emails have gone without response. Also, no real pricing for EZE to AEP can be found in their simple list. I wonder if one does a booking, should one at 1 hour to expected arrival time or just arrival time? What if a flight is delayed?

I can't imagine you'll need a reservation for an EZE arrival, and I'd also expect the rate to be the same/similar as the regular city rate. When I've used the on-arrival services, I've never waited more than a few minutes to be taken out to the car.

I'll need a ride next month from EZE to Recoleta. Taxi Ezeiza's website seems to indicate that it's currently 720 pesos, which works out to about US$41. Not great but, historically, not terrible either. Is there any better option? Years ago, through a friend, I found "a guy" who spoke some English and did airport pickups for a little less than the taxi companies. Are there still "guys with cars" who do airport pickups, or is that not a thing these days? I know there's uber, but if my Spanish is bad (and it is) is that likely to work well for me at the airport? To use Uber easily, I would think I'd need a SIM card. Is there any way to get a cheap SIM card at the airport -- and do they sell one that would work in Brazil, too? (I otherwise won't be in BA long enough to make it worthwhile).

If not, it would seem like I'm headed to the Taxi Ezeiza counter. FWIW, I did use them to get TO the airport earlier this year (they have a website promo that knocks 100 pesos off in that direction) and they were just fine.

And to think not that many years ago we used to travel the 100 miles to home from EZE by taxi for around £15. :D

I'm also going to need a ride from Recoleta to the AEP airport. I assume the best way to do this is by calling a radio taxi? Can anyone recommend a reliable one? I presume the fare is only a few dollars. Will I need pesos, or do they take credit cards these days? Thanks.

I just checked my Uber app and can see that Uber is in BA. Might be a good option to get to and from airports

To is easier than from.

There are a bunch of negative stories on the web about Uber in Buenos Aires. I guess it's controversial. I assume the cost savings of using Uber in BA are modest? If so, I don't mind using a traditional radio taxi, if they're reliable and won't rip me off.

Can you let me know why? Is it due to lack of Uber cars available?

It has to do with finding your car and communicating with the driver, as it won't have the UBER logo and they really aren't supposed to pick you up at the airport.

Got it!. Would you recommend a taxi or prebook a car from a hotel?

In countless hundreds of taxi experiences, I've only had one false meter and one who tried to change a false bill.

Nevertheless, if you want a taxi, try Premium - they have booking on their website, or just call for instant pickup, as my experience (years ago) with prebooking was an exercise in futility.

I think there are two seperate issues regarding going to and from EZE.

1) hotel-EZE
Should be no problem with UBER as, first, it can come to the hotel and, secondly, it can drop the passenger at EZE

2) EZE-hotel
a) Uber is questionable for reasons mentioned above (see previous posts),

b)Taxi Ezeiza bookable on arrival is an option. Their rate EZE-Centro is now 780 pesos (until last week it was 720 which shows the state of country's economy)
http://www.taxiezeiza.com.ar/eng/tarifas

c) Tienda Leon Buses http://www.tiendaleon.com/resultados/busqueda/bus/

The current rate EZE-Terminal Madero is 240 pesos (was 220, hehe...).
Arriving at Terminal Madero doesn't solve the problem as one would need to take a taxi to the hotel (additional cost)

However, Flying Machine in his post (https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28754254-post13.html) has advised that Manuel Tienda Leon offers a sevice called bus+traslado (bus+transfer from Madera Terminal to any hotel at Centro) at practically the same price (10 pesos more).
This offer is not to be found anywhere on Tienda's webpage, unfortunately...
It would be nice if anyone who took advantage of the bus+traslado service could confirm that it really exists

Yes it definitely exists when you speak to the Tienda Leon representative at the airport, just let them know that you would like a translado/ transfer and provide them with your hotel address when your purchasing your ticket. Once at Madero you retrieve your luggage from the bus..Groups of individuals will be grouped together and placed in a Remis and you will be taken to your hotel (normally 2 to 3 passengers per Remis)There is a Tienda Leon representative with a clipboard that will assist you at Madero. The ticket that you purchase will be two parts one part Airport:Madero and the second part is for the Translado to your hotel. Remember! You must mention this at time of purchase at the airport As the service is not available once you arrive at Madero. Safe travels

Thanks for confirming the existence of the service.
They are not showing this service on their webpage, for reasons known only to them :td:

PS. I would love it if Spanish world "translado" existed - it would be similar to "transfer".
However, what they invented is to omit "n" and they have traslado, not translado. :)
