Thx, but we decided unlike most other trips we will either walk or cab it, we will have 2 1/2 days only since we decided to go to Colonia for a day

If you're coming from the hotel, I'm sure they can call you a taxi and assist with ensuring the pricing is reasonable. The Melia to IGR is actually closer than if you were heading from Puerto Iguazu so not far. However, i think I've always just asked the hotel to call a taxi for me.
OK we crossed over today, it was painless a short line on the BR side, but took awhile for the group of the 3 to get done. We took the driver that took us from IGU to The DT , he took us to/from the Park then the DT to Melia. He said 400 BRS that was $80 I knew too much ended up at $60, the hotel told me it s/b $53. So when he came to get us this morn I told him the hotel said $53 and I will keep it at $60 but we want to stop to change money. He said OK, turned out after driving around he asked someone in a Tourism store who sent us around the corner to reg store that did it in the back room. Gave me a rate of 710 I said its 730, he said in BA thats true but its 710 up here , you want to change or not, we did Didnt see any Cambio signs anywhere we drove and we drove around

Turns out the Melia charged us 20,000 less then we expected with the tx so we should have more then enough for a cab to IGR (6000) and a cab from AEP to The Hyatt.

At the Melia she didnt expect me to pull out 235,000 ARS, but it was well worth it the USD rate we booked was $531, the 235K @ 710 is $330 and the CC rate is 612

When you arrive at AEP, there's a taxi line and depending on the flow, there could be quite a line of people or you could just walk up to the front. However, it's relatively organized and I've never found it to be an issue. At one point they had a system where you could scan a QR code that then allowed you to enter your destination and a pre-determined fare would be printed on a receipt that you then handed/showed to the driver so they couldn't charge more. However, I truly can't recall that I did that last year. It's not far to the Park Hyatt and shouldn't be too much. You'll need cash - even though the taxi may say it accepts credit cards, I've never actually tried that in Argentina. It seems this will your last leg in Argentina, so hopefully you'll already have some ARS. In all my trips through AEP, I've only once tried to use an Uber and it was a bit of a pain to find the pick up area and coordinate, so I've always been perfectly happy to just use a taxi. They're usually the typical black and yellow radio taxis and it's a fairly straightforward trip to the Hyatt, so they're not going to veer much out of the way to try and charge you more. It's not expensive and I've just not found this trip worth the effort of a booked car. The only taxis that I think are sketchy (just being judgy on my part) are the guys who try to pick up at the median/island where they're not supposed to stop because they don't want to get into the taxi line if it's busy/crowded.

When you head to the Hyatt, make sure you know if you've booked a room on Palace side or Park side as it's a bit of a pain to walk through the underground tunnel if you've arrived on the wrong side. Alvear for the Palace, Posadas for the Park, just give your driver the correct street.

As for Iguazu, it's been a few years since I made the Brazil-Argentina crossing, but I don't recall it being too expensive ($50USD or less?) although it's a bit of a drive and the driver has to stop and help you with the border crossing formalities. When heading from the Hyatt to EZE, you can have the doorman hail a taxi for you or you can pre-book with Tienda Leon or Taxi Ezeiza, it all comes out around the same (about $40USD - at least that's always the figure I have in my head). I'm not sure why, but I generally just take a taxi to EZE but use a service from EZE into town. I can't recall why I do this, but it's been a habit/routine that's just developed over the past 15 years and it's worked for me. If you prefer a prebooked car, it's pretty simple to reserve online.

Overall, I've not found taxi drivers to be the scam artists they are made out to be on the forums and certainly not like in other cities. Years ago, they used to warn about $100ARS bill switcheroo but that seems a worthless endeavor now with the money being worth very little. I've only once had a driver that drove a bit out of the way to drive up the fare, but even that was a small amount. I've also had very nice drivers and one time, had a driver who was hopefully lost and he felt so bad he turned off his meter and said he wouldn't charge me.
Here in BA, we followed the signs for the taxi but it was taking us towards the Intl section, stopped by Info and asked what it should cost she said you need to use your phone and the QR thingy. Once we said we dont have a phone she took hers and told us the amount 2637.

Went outside since the signs for a Taxi wasnt there any longer and walked back almost to where we came out from Arrivals. There was no line, showed the supervisor the address and was put into a car. The driver had problems getting the address right but once he did he knew where to go and showed us the amount, never used the meter.

I gave him 3000 and he started getting me the change and told him no thx, man 3000 is < $5 no way did we want any change. The Melia charged us 20,000 less then we expected so we have enough money to take care of things for now

PH used a TSU and ended up in the Palace as requested but on the 3rd floor so the room is OK but not the high high ceilings of the 1st and 2nd floor, maybe even the 4th. Its more like a Jr Suite in that the bedroom doesnt have a door to it just a passage way. It will do the job

All we can say is what the heck took us so long before coming here to BA! Its our perfect kind of a city. As for taxis, well today we waked from The PH to Threate Colon to the Obisk to Plaza de Mayo and all around that area, beautiful walking weather and a very beautiful city to walk in. Never got into a taxi at all, who wants to if you do you miss so much

As full-time nomads, we started in BA with a booking for a month. We loved it so much, we stayed nearly 6 months last year. We walked an average of 6 miles per day!! Not sure how long you are there, but if you have the time go to:

Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Seriously great. So many old Masters, so close.

Not sure if Polo is going on, but it's really fun too! And free.

I think the cost was equal to $12.00 USD. I will ask DH and edit this post if he has different info. We LOVED this hotel.

Make sure you have a beverage or 2 from the rooftop!
We left the Melia last Thurs but we took the elevator to the top floor and didnt see how to access the roof top, we should have asked but did it just before heading to IGR (Hotel taxi was 6000). How did you get up there?

There is a plain unmarked door that leads to some stairs that go up to that rooftop bar. I think we saw the rooftop from down below, and had to investigate to get up there. There was a function going on that evening, so maybe it was propped open, and we being Nosey Parkers, went to have a look?? Just asked DH, and he has the same recollection.

We saw something on the roof as well , so before checking out and after getting back from The Devil we went to the 3rd floor we were on the 2nd. But once the El door opened and we looked quickly both ways it looked exactly like the 2nd so since we running alittle late we just jumped back in the El and went to our room

We had a Jungle view room and after being in both parks we didnt need a Falls view room. That said when we finally leaving our room and th room opposite was opened (being cleaned) we looked out and indeed it was a nice view of The Falls which cant be compared in any way to what you see on the lobby level, I imagine the 3rd floor would be nicer

@ EZE now, we asked at the hotel how much a taxi s/b, they told us 13,000 so we put that amount aside. when they got a cab for us on the street the driver spoke no English so we motioned to him to write down how much since he didnt use the meter. he wrote 16,000 or $40 US. we told him and showed him to pull over we were getting out. we showed him the 13,000 we had and he took it

we really enjoyed our selves and would be sad to leave, except if we dont leave then we cant come back, which we want to

we thank everyone whom posted info and answers to our questions, you folks made the trip so much easier and enjoyable for us.
