I'm still trying to confirm an official announcement from AmEx, but VISA and MC get a MUCH better rate now instead of the official exchange

VISA Announcement

Yep. AMEX gets the better rate too. I charged a few weeks ago my Cable/Internet bill from Personal for my apartment that I own in BA and I did get the better rate reimbursed 9 days after the initial charge. I figured I'd take one for the team to test out. It works.

Yeah, it does work. And they reimburse about 10 days later as you indicated.

Its not the "MEP" rate, but its another rate (I have heard it is the "Tourist Dollar Rate"), its still much much better than what you would get prior to the new policy

I still never saw an official announcment from AmEx explaining how it will work though.

We go all the time and husband is there now.

The problem is the "refund" portion doesnt match up to the charged portion. So, like us, if you use the card 3-4x/daily, 20-30x/weekly, it is VERY difficult to match up the refunds to the charges, its very random appearing.

I've had some luck matching it up based on the date of the charge

THis is what the refund notation looks like for every single transaction:
REFUND USD TOURIST BCRA COMM A7630 CIUDAD AUTONOMA DE BUAR BUSINESS SERVICE

Of course it will. But almost every time there's a panic day, there's a retrenchment of maybe 10 percent, before it gets worse again.

Interesting times. That's for sure. Here is a pretty good analysis from Wells Fargo - https://wellsfargo.bluematrix.com/li...6-295ca3aa3b09

The Blue closed at 665/685

The MEP and the CCL only moved very slightly - The government is announcing right now addditional measures to limit operations in MEP and CCL - w ahve to await market reaction to these measures but limiting operations will push the price up.

And it already has, after the dip yesterday at close, we're up to 690/710.
