EZE Wait time warning

Just another reminder not to cut it close when departing EZE. Last Sunday afternoon, security and exit passport control wait was a full hour AFTER check-in. The line started at the top of the escalator. (I've never seen it that bad.) There were some polite and some quite rude people cutting in line, making excuses, blah blah blah. Families with not-too-young children were cutting completely around the security line to go to the front. Clearly-undeserving swine were abusing the priority/crew/diplomat passport control. They were from all airlines, going to all places. Unless there was some major cluster&*%$ at their respective check-ins, they all should have been put in their places, and missed their flights. There was no traffic, i.e., I was at EZE in under 30 minutes from my front door. Disgraceful passengers plus a disgraceful airport make for an unpleasant experience. Having someone tell you "I have a 14 hour flight" as she cuts in front of you (when of course, I only had a five hour flight, plus a two hour connection, plus a nine hour flight after that) can really set someone off. I just waved at her and said, go ... go. At least she asked. Some people weren't so nice. I suppose the good news is that it wasn't just a bunch of "rude Americans" doing this - people from all over the world were equal opportunity poto-heads.

Yes it's a bottleneck that area....I can imagine what it must be like when it's busy.
The airlines need to kick up more fuss I think especially as they pay high fees to use the place. I'm just glad that I manage to avoid the place in summer. Sunday afternoon in winter is very peaceful.

I had a long wait time at passport control departing AEP to PDP the other day. Some old guy cut in right in front of me. I was like ... but did not say anything, but it was really rude.

Thanks for the heads-up as I will be departing from EZE soon.

As Ive said ad-nauseum.... EZE is a friggen disgrace in all aspects. The infrastructure stinks, the operator is pathetic, and the regulatory bodies dont do their job..... no wonder things are the way they are.

I apologize to visitors for this... as an Argentine it shames me we have such a disgrace for our international airport.

After readin this and the "EZE: Quilombo Total! Parte dos. The worsening" thread, I want to ask for your advice again.

I'll spend easter holiday (april) at Calafate. My return flights to Peru are scheduled to arrive a AEP at 15:08, on sunday april 24. Then I have to go to EZE for my international flight to Peru that departs at 19:55.

Both flights are LAN and since this year I got the premium status I can check my baggage at the business class counter (faster). Is it enough time for this connection? I thought so, since sundays are usually less traffic at cities. However these EZE wait times threads worried me a bit. Any advice is welcome.

If you are on time, you should be fine. I was on the same EZE/LIM flight in my story, on a Sunday afternoon, and I went from San Telmo to EZE in under 30 minutes. There was just a short wait in the business class line. All the wait was for tramites afterward. You should be at EZE no later than 17:00. Plenty of time.

Sunday 6:50pm
Fortunately it wasn't that bad. A long line for the xrays check (5:57pm), but it moved fine. Then a far longer line for the immigration stamp. Not organized at all, nobody tells you (and it's hard to figure out) there are actually 2 lines, and when you are within the hall you then realize there's another line, it's a waste of time.
However it didn't take more then 30 minutes. At 6:24pm I was entering the duty free area. Anyway, a better organization could bring a faster service.

I just hope I'll have the same luck on april, for my AEP-EZE connection on easter sunday

Slightly off-topic, but I thought it wasn't worth starting a new thread.

I have entered and exited Argentina through EZE, but my flight next month will be my first time in transit there. I am used to transitting SCL, where there is a security check / x-ray that usually involves a very short wait.

What should I expect at EZE? I have a couple of hours between flights, I am just curious so that I know how worried I should be in the case of my flight to EZE arriving late.

Cheers

Does this mean you're offering wine in compensation?

Just kidding of course, but I do agree. EZE is not the place for rushing. And as stated, it is a wide group of people that think they're more deserving to get to the lounge than I am.

Having been in that AA lounge more times than I care to remember, indeed, many of the people are quite wide.

Will you already be checked in for your connecting flight? What airline is it on? You won't find transit counters.

I hope I will already checked in, but in my experience (flying CHC-AKL-SCL-LIM) usually I cannot check in for the entire itinerary in CHC but I can check in for the remainder since AKL. This time I am flying CHC-AKL-SYD-EZE-SCL-LIM (believe it or not, this is not a mileage run but simply the cheapest fare I could find at the time of booking), so I am not sure if they will check me in all the way to LIM or not. If not, it sounds like the lack of transit counters could be a problem - do you have any idea about my options for getting a boarding pass if I'm not checked in already? The AA lounge? The gate? Or would I have to go through immigration and check-in landside (exposing me to the departure fee )?

Aside from CHC-AKL, the flights are all Lan (and its non-Chilean offshoots) tickets, though the SYD-EZE is on QF metal.

Any further info appreciated.

Cheers
