Missing Point Requst Form
Recently traveled from NYP - WAS for business aboard the Acela. Since work booked it for me, never had the chance to put in my AGR number. After the trip I tried to use the missing point request form on the AGR website. It claims that 48 hours later the points should be provided. I have tried to do it twice to no avail. Any thoughts on follow up action? Can I mail in the actual boarding pass stubs? Thanks.

Definately do not mail in the actual ticket stub. If you do that and they loose it, you will no longer have any proof that you took the trip. What you want to do is to make a clear photocopy of the ticket stub and mail that copy in, along with a brief letter giving your name and account number. But by no means give up the original ticket stub.
As for the online missing points form, I find that it can be hit or miss. The fact that your ticket came from a source other than Amtrak may very well be causing part of the problem.

I've had that happen too. I've often been able to call AGR Customer Service (the number on the back of the card), read them the ticket info, and have them post the points immediately.

Have you managed to do that recently? Cause officially they were supposed to stop doing that about 2 years ago, it's only supposed by fax or mail now.

I've also had them manually have them posted after I call. I normally always do the online form first and wait a few weeks. When I call, I always let them know that I've done that and also how long I've had to wait. Probably matters a lot who you talk to.

Interesting, I was about to call this morning for a trip on Dec 14 that hasn't posted, and magically it appeared!

The ticket was bought and collected before a schedule change occurred, and printed with a 7.15am dep time. The train time was then changed to 7.05. I got to the station in time but didn't see the train on the departures board, so I went and asked and they explained about the earlier departure (which I had just missed). The agent printed me another ticket for the next train at 7.17am, with which I ran to the platform and just made it.
Unfortunately, after I was on the train I saw that the reprinted ticket had neither my name nor my AGR number on it (both in the original booking, of course). The conductor didn't mind whose name the ticket gave when I mentioned this, and had no idea what I was worrying about when I asked anxiously about getting my AGR points.
As expected, the points never posted, even after the 3weeks or so. So I sent in the ticket stub with a letter explaining the situation, along with my original itinerary purchase printout.
No reply yet from Amtrak: how do I ensure I get my base and bonus points? I will miss out on several hundred points for just this one trip if I don't get them posted, since I received triple (targeted) and double (fall promo) points at the time.

Well hopefully they won't loose your ticket stub and letter, but I sure hope that you at least kept a copy of things. Otherwise you can probably kiss those points goodbye if they don't get it done with the letter that you sent containing the actual stub.

How fast (if ever) to get missing points?
I traveled by sleeper for a short trip in October 2011, a round trip but with two separate reservations. Both had my AGR entered before tickets were picked up. One side of the trip posted within a week or so, but the return trip has yet to post. I sent the appropriate information (ticket #, PNR) via the web form for missing points, but have yet to see a response -- certainly far beyond the 48 hours listed on website. How long does it actually take for Amtrak to check records and post points?
