This thread is a continuation of: Churning Amex in Canada (2015)

Referrals and self-referrals are an important part of churning Canadian-issued American Express cards. It is appropriate to discuss how the referral process works in this thread. However, please do not offer or request referrals here.

Use only this thread, and do read the Wikipost carefully before posting:

Referral Offers (post only in this thread, no referral links, read Wiki post first).

JerryHung: I figure I'll include all CURRENT AMEX Canada offers here (no referral links) for anyone curious about what the bonus and fees are
This is not an all-inclusive list, only the "good" offers, so feel free to add new offers

New as of Jun 30, 2016
AMEX Platinum Rewards - $699/year, 60K MR (via referral) after $1000 spending in 3 months vs. 50K non-referral + earn 15K MR for each referral you make
(Note: from Mar 23 - Jun 29 the bonuses were 75K welcome and 25K referral points)

New as of March 23 2016
AMEX Business Platinum Rewards - $399/year, 75K MR (via referral) after $5000 spending in 3 months vs. 40K non-referral + earn 25K MR for each referral you make
(Note: as of Jun 30, the Business Platinum is still at 75K welcome and 25K referral points).

New as of May 2016
AMEX Gold Rewards - $150/year, FYF, 25K MR after $1500 spending + $50 cashback from GCR
(Note: as of mid-May 2016, Gold will now earn 5K points for referring and increased from $500 to $1500 required spending. FYI: from Jan 11 to mid-May, the Gold card earned 0 referral points.)

AMEX Business Gold Rewards - $250/year, FYF, 30K MR after $5000 spending (or 40K via referral)

AMEX Air Miles Platinum - $65/year, 2000 Air Miles after $1500 spending + $30 GCR cashback

The first 25,000 were the points that your Platinum card received for self-referring when the Plat used to earn 25K for referring (but then dropped back to 15K on Jun 30).

I think it's also worth emphasizing that you followed Preacher7's advice, posted a earlier, to NOT contact Amex regarding the missing Gold's 25,000 welcome points on this not-first-time churned card opening, and instead to wait it out. Else you run the risk of an Amex agent opening your file for a closer review and discovery, thus potentially forcing them to enforce the one-welcome rule that is now listed in the card's online application footnotes (since July 2015).
That is correct on all counts.

Amex announced today that "All Platinum cards" will now earn 5 MR per dollar spent on airfare.

Anyone know if this extends to Canadian cards?

Doesn't look like it according to @AskAmexCanada's twitter response.

No such competition (ie: Chase Reserve) in Canada so no need to follow suit.

It's also mentioned in this thread's WiKi notes at top of this page, if you have a browser/device that can view it. :-/

what are people seeing as far as enforcement of maximum referral bonus per card/per year? I'm curious if linking MR accounts gives you more room, or if it is truly based on the card itself.

For example, if I have 2 x cards linked to MR account, is my maximum referral now the sum of both maximums? Obviously I'd like to be using my Biz Platinum for all referrals if possible...

Also, some people mention a maximum number of referrals vs. number of points - any idea if it is 225k on the biz plat, or is it 15 x referrals?

I didn't do this when applying for my Biz Plat.

Is it possible to link the accounts after the fact?

It's on a per card basis. Combining your Mr points won't allow you to make 2x the # of referrals on a biz plat.

Have you been denied any referrals yet for going over the max?

The statement AFTER $500
