I booked two tickets last week. One was $94.30 (reimbursed), the other one was about $150 + $ 58 Travel Bank funds (not reimbursed).

I came across some article the other day stating that for B6 to work, the price has to be less than $150.

I recently realized that I was never reimbursed for my purchase of Even More Space seats from quite a few months back. Used Amex chat and the rep did it for me. But this is something that should have happened instantly because this is explicitly what this reimbursement is meant for.

I just pulled this text from the Amex site:
  1. This benefit doesn't offer credit toward airline tickets, mileage points purchases or mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, upgrades, duty–free purchases, or award tickets.
So I think this technically should not have been reimbursed, but apparently it was. My dilemma is that I have three seats to upgrade which will go over $100 so I doubt they will reimburse it on my platinum card. I assume all three will be billed together as $120 and not $40 x 3?

Even more space seats are not exactly considered "upgrades" - it's not a business or first class seat, it just has more legroom like Economy Plus on other airlines. I definitely automatically got reimbursed for paying for these seats in the past just like I got reimbursed automatically for paying for Economy Plus on United or other airlines. Read through this thread and you will see data points of people getting automatic reimbursement for EMS seats, I'm unsure why my purchase didn't trigger it though.

My seats didn't get billed together, I paid for 3 and they were charged individually.

Just curious, what is the net gain here? Thanks

All my JetBlue more space charges were credited on Amex platinum up to $200.

The idea is that you get a free JetBlue credit to use for an itinerary that you actually want. The low price, one-way booking and cancellation is a means to get that.

Decent chance this gets clawed back by Amex.

I think they actually get a refund, not a credit, since its within the 24 hour DOT window.

I'm not at all sure, but my understanding is that it doesn't work to cancel within 24 hours because that's insufficient time for the airline to post the charge and get the Amex statement credit. It ends up being a pending charge that never posts. Perhaps I'll be corrected if mistaken.

ETA: To clarify, I mean cancel within 24 hours and seek a refund (as opposed to a credit) doesn't work, if I understand correctly. A credit can work because that's still a charge from Amex's perspective.

That's fair. I guess it depends on the mechanics of how everything posts. Most of the time when I have cancellations etc. the original charge isn't removed - they just put in an offset / refund some days later. But I'm not sure if B6 would do this the same way all the time.

There are some low fares on B6 consistently out of my local launchpad and I'm wondering if I should switch my airline selection next year.
