I recently realized that I was never reimbursed for my purchase of Even More Space seats from quite a few months back. Used Amex chat and the rep did it for me. But this is something that should have happened instantly because this is explicitly what this reimbursement is meant for.

8/14: Bought 1 way flight for $103.98
8/15: Cancelled flight at 23.5 hrs for full refund
8/16: $103.98 posted to AMEX account.
8/17: $100 airline credit received
8/17: $103.98 refund received

I just pulled this text from the Amex site:
- This benefit doesn't offer credit toward airline tickets, mileage points purchases or mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, upgrades, duty–free purchases, or award tickets.
My seats didn't get billed together, I paid for 3 and they were charged individually.

ETA: To clarify, I mean cancel within 24 hours and seek a refund (as opposed to a credit) doesn't work, if I understand correctly. A credit can work because that's still a charge from Amex's perspective.

I'm not at all sure, but my understanding is that it doesn't work to cancel within 24 hours because that's insufficient time for the airline to post the charge and get the Amex statement credit. It ends up being a pending charge that never posts. Perhaps I'll be corrected if mistaken.

There are some low fares on B6 consistently out of my local launchpad and I'm wondering if I should switch my airline selection next year.
