As of June 2017 gift certificates are no longer reimbursed. Link to buy gift certicates
According to this thread in the Alaska forum the reimbursement of Alaska Club memberships is no longer a problem. To see how much of your annual credit you've used, log in to AmEx, select the card in question, choose "Membership->Benefits" off the menu bar, scroll down to see the travel credit benefit. (with thanks to Lumpylump76)
Tickets cancelled within 24 hours are refunded back to the card used for the purchase.Tickets for travel dates > 60 days out can be deposited to your wallet when cancelled (this has not been true for some time). Change fees may apply depending on your status. Change fees are waived for MVP Gold and MVP Gold 75k members according to this page: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mi...ID:MileagePlan (expand "service benefits" towards the bottom of the page). The wallet funds will expire one year after the issue date of the original ticket.

I like that Alaska has the MyWallet thing for combining the gift certificates and not losing them, but, being based in Boston, means I may not have a lot of use for them (direct to Portland and Seattle only).
I tied myself to AA for my plat card by making a single, test $30 upgrade sticker purchase yesterday. I will let you know how it goes.
I am still trying to figure out which airline to use for my wife's card, however. I am leaning toward Southwest, but, ideally, would love to get the gift cards on a major that can be used towards taxes and fees on mile redemptions, but don't believe that is possible.

Alaska works for me, too!
I bought a $100 Alaska Airlines gift certificate and was reimbursed 2 days after it posted to my AMEX account.

Gift certificates don't expire with them, but they have to be bought in $25 increments. I purchased one for $100 earlier in the year and it was promptly reimbursed the next day.

Any idea if Alaska Air offers gift cards and if they have been credited by Amex? How about Delta gift certificates? Thanks.

I purchased a $50 ecertificate last week, and was not reimbursed. It looks like it's getting coded differently than in the past (i.e. last December):
New: ALASKA AIR GIFT CERTSEATTLE WA
Old: ALASKA EWALLET SEATTLE WA
New: ALASKA AIR GIFT CERTSEATTLE WA
Old: ALASKA EWALLET SEATTLE WA

While the above post is correct about the new coding, I purchased 4x$50 certificates (in four separate transactions just in case) on January 1st and was reimbursed for all of them on the 3rd.
