Sadly these are pretty useless as they're only on BA and IB and only apply to full-fare tickets.

Interesting - 2 SWU expiring in July and had AA check May - November for DFW-NRT and NOT one day are there any UG seats available. I asked why and agent stated we are looking at revenue tickets first now...
Careful if your SWU doesn't UG on your flight post expiry date, you will lose those SWUs. What a waste.

Without C space to upgrade at booking SWU's are utterly useless.

And, I'm assuming there's zero chance SWUs end of July expiry will be extended this year? At least, if I recall, assuming one can find an upgrade, it can be applied to travel beyond the expiry date?

This is the catch. Even with zero C class SWU available you can use for trips booked after July 31 but if you don't get UG, they will become useless. The agent said there is not one C class SWU UG seat for DFT-NRT for the whole year - they want rev passengers and not UG passengers.

I don't blame them, just unfortunate for those of us with SWUs where they could just run out the clock.

Was F much higher in price when you purchased? Personally I don't risk the upgrade on 2.5+ hr flights leaving a major airport/ hub (JFK, LAX, DFW, MIA, CLT, PHL and ORD). Too many CK/ EXP and people actually buying F/ taking the in app upgrade.

Where were you on the upgrade waiting list when it went to airport control? I have found SNA to be unpredictable for upgrades...sometimes F is full 2 weeks prior, and sometimes it is almost empty until EXP window.

THANK YOU! Snagged it! Agent said many C seats are available but they are making most of them REVENUE C class ...

altitude75k Apr 11, 2022 8:39 am
