It surely can't be long before AA follows DL/AS and starts considering MCE an 'upgrade'.

SLC-DFW today 12:11 PM flight.

#3 out of 12 on wait-list. Top 2 cleared. I was the first loser. I have an MCE window with an empty middle seat so not so bad.

PPro 9000 EQD last year and around 28,000 LP so far this year.

On EF, the most critical thing is to make sure you are using the "Award & Upgrade Search" and to search segment by segment. So if you're flying say PHL-DFW-LAX you must search PHL-DFW + DFW-LAX separately to see the true results (do not search PHL-LAX).

C space can be released at any time, especially for domestic flights.

And there is no way to see 500-mi upgrade space on EF (this is R space, not X).

Haven't been in the air for 2.5 years and finally making it back. I was looking for upgrade inventory to/from Hawaii and it obviously looks bleak. I'm a little rusty. Went to EF and saw C3 but I hadn't searched by the individual segments. So, while I was on the phone with the AAgent, I saw one segment LAX-ORD was showing C7. We are a party of 3. I just asked if all 3 of us would get upgraded on that flight (not that I would use miles for that) and told her I saw C7. She tells me that there is only 1 seat available. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for the refresher.

Did you use award search or flight availability? Award search will show the accurate count.

Return trip SAV-DCA 4/24, cleared about T-4, managed to get 2 companions up with me too (stickers coming in useful). I thought I could only get one companion upgraded with me but TIL.

This week’s datapoints:

BOS-PHL Monday last flight (delayed): Cleared at T-100. A321 went out with a few open seats and a clean list.

PHL-BOS Tuesday evening 2nd last flight: Cleared at T-100. A321 F20 with 20 on the list when we pushed with five clearing.

BOS-DCA Thursday evening 7:30 pm: Cleared at T-30. Was J0 a week out so that was surprising. No one cleared and the list was 22 deep.

DCA-BOS Friday 6 pm: Bought up for a cool $60 as it was J1 a week out. 11 on the list and one cleared.

They've definitely tweaked the RM algos for buy ups (and in our favor imo), prior to a couple of weeks ago I never saw them for less than $97, but the other day my DCA-CLT which was showing J2 offered me $45pp for me & the OH which is an absolute no brainer.

That’s a good deal in my book. I called my TA and booked it as an up-fare. I want to say the app instant upgrade was on the 90s. The outbound briefly flashed for nearly $200. Not worth it, especially when row 14 was wide open.
