Kind of a weird question/situation. I have a couple of domestic round-trip flights scheduled where on one leg of each round trip flight I don't want the complimentary upgrade. I see that the upgrade has been automatically requested on all legs. What's the best way to cancel the auto-upgrade request on 2 legs? Can I do that online or does it require a phone call? Thanks!

GSO-CLT-BHM on 6/12… Plt status around 110000 LPs and 4K in EQDs from the last half of last year…
CLT-BHM on a CRJ 900 cleared at the 48-hour window flight went out with 3 vacant FC seats and the GSO-CLT on a CRJ700 #1 on the list and 2 of us cleared at boarding (17-minute flight, complete with PDB (Diet Coke) and a screwdriver in glass while in the air.) |
Last week, I was 3 out of 30 for DFW-GSV on an A319 with zero F showing available, but then I cleared at 5 min prior to boarding. 1 and 2 were not cleared. We delayed at the gate for ten minutes to accomodate late comnections (shocking, I know). I thought for sure I would get yanked back to coach, but it stuck and the FA was generous with pours from pre departure till a last calĺ 15 min before wheels down.
I am 4 out of 4 for upgrades on eligible flights over the last month, all in/out of DFW. Tomorrow's flight has no F seats available though so we will see if my streak breaks. But next week, I have two flights which look very promising (lots of unassigned F seats but only a few tickets left in either cabin). Definitely a very different world than 2019 when I was clearing near nothing as a low EQD Exec Plat and usually 12th or worse on the list. Currently, I am at 105K LPs. |
My chances this week as a PLT...
DFW-DCA: YES, T-20hrs DCA-ILM: YES, T-48hrs ILM-DCA: YES, T-48hrs DCA-DFW: NO, 21 of 43 on List, 2 cleared |

Paid upgrades
I'm EXP getting few upgrades out of DFW. Getting messages on app to buy upgrades for $100-$200 vs $500+ premium when booking. These are long routes eg SMF and first fills up by day of departure.

This one's a shocker. The fact that F wasn't sold out long before departure is amazing.
I have only rarely received a weekday morning upgrade from DFW to East Coast airports. One each to PHL and BOS in the past 12 months. Each cleared just before boarding. Never one this early. |

I've been doing very well as a new PP with ~140k LPs. Absolutely no status on AA until this year.
May: CMH-DFW-ANC: paid 15k miles + $75 to upgrade CMH-DCA-BTV: paid 13k more miles for F BTV-DCA-CMH: upgraded both ways at T-72 CMH-DCA-PWM: upgraded both ways at purchase (T-72) PWM-DCA-CMH: upgraded both ways about T-2 hours June: AUS-DFW-CMH: paid $56 for the last F seat AUS-DFW, battlefield upgraded DFW-CMH CMH-DFW-TUS: 17.5k miles for Y, 25k for F (no brainer) TUS-DFW-CMH: already confirmed both ways 72 hrs. out CMH-DFW-PDX: confirmed 72 hrs. out PDX-DFW-CMH: confirmed 72 hrs. out LAS-ORD-CMH: 12k more miles for F So for minimal cost in $ and miles, I have not flown once in PE or Y on AA since hitting PP. I hope EXP will be even better! Loving American right now. let's go EXP!! |
Hit platinum on Friday, and cleared my first upgrade on Saturday! Good timing! 80k LP.
SNA-ORD 9 out of 29, none cleared ORD-DCA cleared at 24h |
PPro with ~100k LPs...
SFO-PHX: 4/14, nobody cleared PHX-ATL: cleared t-72 hours ATL-DFW: cleared t-72 hours DFW-SFO: hadn't cleared t-2 hours irrops led to changing ATL-DFW-SFO to... ATL-PHX: 1/19, cleared at gate, only person (whew) PHX-SFO: 6/16, 1 cleared SFO-DFW: forget but wasn’t close to clearing DFW-FCO: 8th on the list, 2 cleared MXP-JFK: 1/4, let #3 on the list take the 1 upgrade into a broken business seat to keep our 2 person group together SFO-CLT: 6/26, 1 cleared CLT-SFO: 2/11, cleared at gate (3 cleared) On the whole PPro hasn't been much help when traveling through major hubs. SFO also seems to be getting harder now that they have cut back the number of flights. I was pleasantly surprised at the last flight since only 1 FC seat was showing up as available in the morning. |
I'm Platinum with ~52,000 LPs. LAX-ORD, 6/24, just cleared T-48.
