It's accurate. You cannot fly US-Africa on one award on Etihad. You can on Qatar though

Thanks, any reason why AA does this, Is it to push miles redemption to Qatar and BA ?

I think they exempt Qatar because they're OneWorld, but no real idea why. FWIW I think I'd stick with Qatar unless you have an A380 routing in mind.

Routings via a third region on other OW airlines are generally not allowed. Even with Qatar a similar exception is not allowed for flights originating in Europe.

This is just a rare exception. My guess with no data whatsoever to support it is that it was Qatar's decision.

I am trying to change my outbound from Qatar to Etihad but the jump in miles needed is giving me indigestion.
This is being merged into the extant thread discussing the award type in question.

AA Advantage Award Ticket Question

Hi all, on the search tool for award tickets I'm looking for a particular routing but online prices it up as two seperate tickets. What I'm looking for is SEA-LAX-AUS-LHR (First Saver) award.

If I ring AA would they be able to manually book the itinerary for 85K instead of 85K & 25K?

Is there a stop over in LAX or AUS? If so, 2 awards. I think AS serves SEA-AUS.

No stopover it's literally SEA-LAX-AUS-LHR. It's available as two separate bookings but not 1.

Not all routings between any two airports can be had as one award. Does BA publish a thru-fare for SEA-LHR that allows SEA-LAX-AUS-LHR? That look circuitous to me when BA has a non-stop SEA-LHR.

The MPM for SEA-LHR is 5751 mi. . The distance for that routing is 7,110 mi.

AAdvantage does have rules about most direct routing , though on partners does seem to defer to MPM . GIven that this is 24% over the MPM, doesn't seem too surprising that it is being rejected

Not all possible routings show up online, and if you are using a multi-city search it will show up as multiple awards even if you can book it as one award. I would call in, feed the agents the specific flights you want and see what happens. You are allowed to go over the MPM by 25%.

Just received a change-notification from myflights app that

DEL - AUH (EY F)
AUH - LHR (EY F)
LHR - VIE (BA C)

has been downgraded to Economy on all sectors. Altough no change in the seat reservations i have done already on the EY legs.

Booking on AA still says First / Business, on EY it's Economy.

Should i be concerned or wait a few days? Departure in 4 Month.

If it was me, I would call EY to query the state of the booking
