Elite Qualifying Miles
The primary cardmember may earn 5,000 Elite Qualifying Miles ("EQMs") after spending $20,000 in Net Purchases that post to the AAdvantage Aviator Silver account from January 1st through December 31st each calendar year. The primary cardmember may earn an additional 5,000 AAdvantage EQMs each calendar year when the cardmember reaches $40,000 in spending on Net Purchases with the AAdvantage Aviator Silver account during the same period. An AAdvantage Aviator Silver primary cardmember may earn the maximum 10,000 EQMs once per calendar year, unless the cardmember has already earned the maximum number of EQMs through another AAdvantage Aviator Silver account. Net Purchases exclude returned goods and services, cash advances, convenience checks, transferred balances, credits, fees and interest charges. Net Purchases made by authorized users through additional cards on the primary cardmember's AAdvantage Aviator Silver account will count toward the primary cardmember's qualifying spend. EQMs earned as a result of this benefit will typically be posted to the primary cardmember's AAdvantage account 6-8 weeks after meeting the spend requirement. EQMs will not count toward Million Miler℠ status. EQMs cannot be redeemed for award travel, AAdvantage miles or any other AAdvantage program awards. EQMs earned with the AAdvantage Aviator Silver account qualify toward the primary cardmember's AAdvantage program elite status earning requirements each calendar year, subject to the limits under the Reward Rules and the AAdvantage Program. I had the USAirways card which got turned into a red card which I later upgraded to a silver card, which I still have. Is it possible to apply for a new RED card to get the current sign up bonus? If not, if I cancel the silver card, how long would I have to wait to apply for a new red card? I've already received my EQD bonuses and 10% redemption miles for the year so won't be using the silver card anyways.

YMMV. Sometimes they let folks have another card without closing the first. Sometimes they don't. We've had both happen in our household. And since Barclays routinely ignores its own language regarding limitations on bonuses (i.e., by giving bonuses to folks who have had the same card recently), it's hard to know how long to wait if you decide to go the "close Silver and get a new Red" route.

Just wanted to add a datapoint for anyone who's recently received the Aviator Red:
I applied for the 40k offer in May. Had no issues calling customer service today and getting an additional 10k miles posted due to the new 50k bonus. Definitely worth a quick phone call for anyone who had applied recently under the 40k bonus offer.

Does anyone have experience with how long it takes to get the 5k EQM after hitting 20k spend? I met that threshold on my last statement which closed about a week ago. The regular miles posted but not the EQM. IIRC, with the Citi Exec card they post concurrently with the statement miles in which you hit the 40k spend for the year.
I called Barclays and they said it takes 6-8 weeks after you hit the spend and that it's not done automatically by AA. I'm concerned I may have issues getting the 5k miles because I had one statement (with 13k of spend) where the miles never showed up, they had to "open an investigation" (which took a month) and then the miles eventually showed up, but with a description saying Barclay Aviator Adjustment. Normally it says Barclay Aviator Everyday Purchases (or something like that). I'm worried that the 5k EQM is supposed to happen automatically after you get 20k in "Aviator Everyday Purchases" and that the 13k "adjustment" won't count.
The Barclay rep assured me that wasn't the case, but would love to hear some validation of the claimed 6-8 week posting time for EQM...

I got my Red card a number of weeks ago, did a single purchase, and my statement closed. No AF and no bonus miles yet. When will I get the miles?

I've been waiting quite a while for my EQD's to post, though. I suspect it has to do with when your statement closes, as they probably process this stuff in batches.

as an FYI to everyone - I didn't earn my first 5,000 EQM's with my card because I spent the $20,000 when it was still red. So, the dollars earned on the red card do not apply towards EQM spend.

..
..
Say you reach $25K the same billing statement as you reach $20K, both the 5K EQM and $3K EQD will appear at the same time. For Silver the next thresholds are $40K for EQM and $50K for second $3K EQD.
Now Citibank is different - if you hit $40K spend, the 10K EQM will post the next day after your closing statement (assuming it is paid).

As per my experience and the experience of many others in this thread, the spend DOES count toward your EQM's.

Sadly, no
i hit $20k March 15th. They put in a ticket to find out why it didn't post, they came back and said because I hit the spend while I was still red that it doesn't count.

I recently converted from red to silver at around $15K spend, will I get EQM when I hit $20K or $35K? This is troubling.

What amount is reflected in your rewards activity page in your Barclaycard account? (This is only available on the desktop website, not the phone app.)
