How many people can hit 1 million BIS seat miles? That seems awfully high...

Ahh, well, with BIS miles and a limited time credit card spend, I think you're not going to have to give away too many lifetime EXP's. :)

PR firms are always the last to know.

Ballpark, 3.0 of my 5.4 are BIS. It's not that hard, I think a lot of us are there.

Interesting, so the march to 1MM is the same no matter if a customer is paying full fare F, or scooping up those super saver Q fares.

You might be wondering about the AAdvantage miles you’ve earned so far. The good news is that when the Million Miler program launches on December 1, your starting Million Miler balance will include every AAdvantage mile you’ve ever earned since joining the program. And any Million Miler status or benefits you’ve earned so far remain as well.

The OP gives a very clear "yes" answer to this question.

As pointed out on Traveling Better, this seems to mean that non-oneworld and non-EQM-earning airline partner base miles still count towards million miler status.

Are you sure? You are EXP and probably got the 100% bonus on most of your flights. It seems unlikely you flew over 600,000 miles before earning elite status.

BlissWorld Aug 24, 2011 12:56 pm

sigh, I came to AA too late :(

Life time gold is reachable for me, but I don't even know if it's worth it :(

If MM is BIS only...2 million miles is very difficult to reach for newbies.

myefre Aug 24, 2011 12:56 pm

There goes lifetime platinum for me. :(

1 MM seems so high, 20 years of flying 50k miles gets you just lifetime gold and 35k bonus miles.

Can one assume that existing LT Golds will not receive the bonus miles?

It's news to everyone except dayone. Oh wait, it's not news - its...nothing.

millsdale Aug 24, 2011 1:01 pm

While I am disapointed this will set my chances of getting LT gold back, in some ways it is needed. Spending 1million on the citi card is not as hard now as it was when LT gold and that came around.

It's confused by transfer of TWA status and miles, and I no longer remember how that program worked. But 3,000 BIS a week, say 40 weeks a year, for 25 years is 3 million, and that feels about right.
