The most remarkable thing about this thread to me is the upgrade rates that people are quoting. I'm above the median EQD numbers, but clearing less than 40% of my domestic upgrades. (My W-to-J op-up percentage on BA is actually better.)
Yet more evidence that flying AA ex-DFW is an incredibly bad idea.

I'll finish this year at:
EQD: $12,612
EQM: 142k
While I don't have a percentage calculated for my domestic upgrades (since I mostly fly internationally), the majority of my upgrades cleared except for a Fri night SFO-MIA and a DFW-SFO flight if I remember correctly...

Will finish around
EQD: $15,109
EQM: 101,800
EQS: 34
Upgrade percentage has been near 100%. Granted, a few didn't clear until the gate.
Then again, I haven't flown AA itself that much this year. When I have, at least 1/3 of the flights were paid F.

I was supposed to do 2-3 more trips (2 international, 1 domestic) this year but I've postponed them to next. I might still fly on AA for NY and get 1k more miles. About 20 upgrades this year, LGA - DCA route I get upgraded all the time, JFK - SFO a few times and had good luck with LGA - DFW

Flight home last night just barely put me over @ $12,076 and 101,001. It was the last scheduled trip of the year. My success rate was 82% this year which is actually higher than the last couple of years (2016 76%, 2015 80%). SWUs have already posted

EQD 25k
EQM 175k
My upgrade %:
0 for LAX-DFW on Sun and 10% DFW-LAX on Thu
100% IND-DFW
90% BUR-PHX, 75% PHX-BUR
33% PHX-IND, IND-PHX, IND-LAX (319!)
I've been trying to use 2 SWUs since Nov with no success on the LAX-DFW/DFW-LAX.

$21k EQD & 139K EQM this year - however I'm Australia based, so most of my travel is on QF, which means my real spend is way more than that, but I don't actually get credit for it. I only have maybe 2-4 domestic US segments a year and I use my VIPs for those as they are attached to Int'l travel, so haven't had a comp upgrade yet...

Most likely, but there is some hope. Given rolling totals, you may actually end up ahead of someone whose travel was heavily loaded in the early part if the year, especially if yours was in the latter months.
