2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. Was hoping for some compassion...but alas got none
I have $3090 EQD and 24,591 EQM.
So I hit the required EQD for Gold but I am 409 EQM short.
I was going to make it with some flights in December to see my Grandpa. But sadly he just passed away and now I won't be travelling again in 2017.
I asked AA for some compassion but all they could do was give me a boost offer of $395.
This seemed a bit harsh to me because I'd already hit the EQD standard.
I'm sure many here will disagree with me. But perhaps some will feel my pain too.

Customer Service said file was in for review and was told several times it would take a couple of days, that's now turned into 3-5 weeks in which case my choice is probably to take a mileage run or find out next year that the request wasn't approved. AA owes me nothing (certainly I'm not entitled to any status before 100K EQM!), but being told a consistent story sure would have helped when it comes to planning a mileage run -- doubly so when the last thing I want to do is spend precious holiday time on a plane.

Offer for Gold is amazing 455$. I guess AA thinks that PQD is some kind of bitcoin in airline world if they think that 7EQD is worth 455$. Good that i am about to get emerald with qatar this year and don't have to MR to get a free bag

I am currently EXP for 3 years now but sitting on $8200 EQD and 84000 EQM. I was given an offer of $905 for Plat Pro (useless - be Plat or EXP but Plat Pro has zero meaning) and $4320 for EXP... no way. Simply not worth it since the SWU dropped from 8 to 4 and I haven't really felt the benefits of being an EXP this year.

I had a large dip in travel this year with changing jobs. I expect to hit EXP again in 2018, but will not buy up to EXP to do so. I'll sit in the back with the other PPros.

got EXP offer the same day I reached PPro!
Fell back on my LTP status back on March 1, 2017.
This AM, the same day my recent BA flights posted, I went over 75K EQM to achieve PPro status. Also this AM I received the "Boost" email for EXP status (sure was quick!).
as of this AM:

EXP offer was $2649 .... I calculate the value of 4 SWUs + a few saved stickers as >$2649, so I took the offer. It will be nice to be EXP again, after 9 months as PLT. ^
