The one I remember was a VX flight from SFO to LAS. I was in First, all happy with a number of G&Ts, and it was time to prepare for landing. I had to used the restroom from all those nice drinks I consumed but I thought I would do so once we get to the ground. Bad idea. Starting approach, less than 50 ft and cross wind..massive cross wind, and we started rolling to the left and right. May be okay to waggle while high in the air to the Air Force jet escorting you but not that low to the ground. Full Power and climb we did. All the while I am holding it in. The Pilot gets on the over head tell us he was uncomfortable to continue landing with those winds so we will go around. Now this time we circle because now we are back of the queue to allow other aircraft to land. Got to keep seated, the FA in First looked at me as I was making some face and I explained that I needed to go, she told me what I expected to keep in my seat. I did not complain as I knew the deal and made my decision. Thirty minutes later we start to land. This time with a little wiggle in the wings but made it down safely. Now this time the gate was given up to another aircraft. Man, was I hurting. About 20 or so minutes on the ground, slowly taxing around we got a gate. BONG! The bell sounded, I jumped up from my seat and made it to the forward bathroom. Forget disembarking from the aircraft as higher matters needed to be attended to. After doing God's work I had to swim upstream at least to row 1 to get my bag. Never again will I just "wait until I get to the airport."

Earlier this month I was flying into SFO at the tail leg of a long itinerary from the Middle East. Poorly timed flight: landing during the peak of one of the strongest storms the city has seen in a while.

While getting knocked around like a doll in 50+ mph winds, we approached over Oakland, descended over the bay in position to land on 19R, then made the decision it was too dangerous to land and ascended over SFO. We went back over San Francisco, over the ocean, back around Marin and Oakland, descended over the bay, and before reaching 5000 ft, quickly ascended back up to 12000 ft and made a hard right turn for a SMF diversion. Winds hadn't improved. At Sacramento, we were met by paramedics for a few pax who got sick from the turbulence and nearly the entire a/c deplaned to catch an Uber to San Francisco (rather than stay onboard and maybe try for SFO again). 90 minutes later, we eventually did try for SFO again and landed. Once on the ground, you could look out the window and see flights aborting landings over the airport.

I've had several aborted landings before, but first time having an aborted landing for weather -- and definitely first time having two of them. I've never had turbulence like that and I hope I never will again.

Plenty of go around to be had in Chicago during a snow storm. On Monday, the entire line of arrivals that were on approach to rwy 27L was forced to go around when they closed the runway for deicing. Our plane was 2nd in line for landing and at less than 2000 ft I believe when power went way up and we started climbing with an eventual right turn to start swinging us back around into the line. The approach queues were large since a practical blizzard had just finished passing through. We made it down on the second attempt but one poor plane had to go around a second time in front of us... Given that loop around was at least 20 mins of extra time, that sucks. Chicago was a mess!

A few passengers on the other side of the plane reported seeing another aircraft fairly close to us. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything
I've been on a few turnarounds but have never experienced a rejected takeoff.

Technically if they weren't on final approach those wouldn't really be go-arounds. Those would just be aircraft in a holding pattern.

Many years ago on Northwest Airlines (Remember them?) I had a go-around at TVC that could have turned into an emergency. We touched our back wheels on the runway, and then full power take-off right away. Pilot came on the PA and announced a small aircraft was stalled at the end of the runway. I hope ground communication has improved substantially since then. That's still my only go-around ever.

I’m very surprised you got as far as wheels down with the runway still occupied.

Well technically, all were established on the ILS and descending to the runway, so I would not call that a holding pattern. Each had to apply climb thrust and climb out or level out of their current descent as well as clean up the aircraft (flaps up and gear up if out). I would call that a go-around.

I must be unlucky because I had three come arounds since November 2017. The first one was landing in Pittsburgh. I was snoozing and woke up as we started climbing. I don’t know why but the runway was lined with fire trucks when we came back in. The second one was flying from AUS to CLT during one of the September hurricanes. We were getting pushed around badly before the captain made an announcement that we are one of six aircraft aborting and coming around. He stated if we need to abort again that we would have diverted to Atlanta. The third come around was landing at ORD in September right after the 2nd come around. There was another aircraft that was still on the runway.
