I'm showing a lot of business/first open on the inaugural SYD-LAX flight if anyone wants to go to SYD the day before and hop on that one instead of the inaugural LAX-SYD flight.

Who knows, you might even get an SWU to clear.

And a wine that I'd love to sample myself, if you make it into F. Sadly, I won't be there.

Pricey tickets, massive delays—there are plenty of reasons to dislike air travel during the last couple months of the year, but American Airlines is trying to make it a little nicer, at least for its first class passengers. On the inaugural flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, flight attendants will be pouring from $850 bottles of acclaimed 2010 Penfolds Grange Shiraz. The elite pours are for first class only, so suck on that, business class.

The collectable bottles, which have received a top wine rating score of 100 points by at least one critic, come from the 60th vintage of the Penfold Grange label.

kinda unfair since the entire first class cabin on the inaugural flight has been blocked off for VIPs lol.

EDIT: nevermind its the SYD-LAX flight they're talking about.

I wouldn't pay $800 for French or Italian wine either.

When the current exchange rate is considered, $800 is not so magical.
Many of the Grange vintages are available online in Australia at (only) slightly less astronomical values.

Consider the advertising value of the announcement...
Short of an exJNB DONEx I won't see the Biz cabin of either QF or AA long haul again.

Happy wandering

Don't encourage this, I need my gifted SWU to clear into J as a lowly PLT on that flight

On that note, if anyone is on that SYD-LAX flight and wants to say hello, let me know.

Does anyone know if it uses a terminal 4 or TBIT gate on arrival and if so how that will impact on immigration.

I hope its a TBIT gate I'm tired of taking a bus from T4. I just hope the early arrival will mean plenty of gates at TBIT and no lines at CPB. 650 am is off peak hours for TBIT.

Why would you drink wine for $800 a bottle, when you can buy a good bottle of champagne for far less than that?
