How does Business Extra round the points? Do they round up or round down?
I have a few tickets where the base fare are $63.26, some earn 13 points, some earn 12. Strange?

It's 2 pts for every $10 of spend, so in the case above:

$63.26 / 10 = 6.326 * 2 = 12.652

If you were awarded 13 points, then you have your answer.

BA

Do the flights on BA Stock get credited via mileage calculation or via cash paid.
In my case, I booked the BA ticket where I paid part of the ticket via points!

How about when I was awarded 12 points instead of 13?
That is the reason I'm asking this. I do know $63.26 / 10 = 6.326 * 2 = 12.652

I suppose it's possible that since they award points once a month that the calculation is actually (63.26 * 4) / 10 * 2 = 50.608 so you got 51 points (13, 13, 13, 12).

Was that all on the same itinerary? Or were they separate itineraries? If it was the same itinerary, then melkor is right. If not, then you can always call into BE and ask that they put on one extra point.

Citi/AAdvantage CC Insurance with BE Tix?

Hi,
I have a question regarding Citi/AAdvantage Credit Card Travel Insurance benefits with a ticket purchased with Business Extra Points.

I am well aware that the card's travel insurance excludes travel that was purchased with AAdvantage miles. However, the benefits guide says nothing about Business Extra. I would assume the credit card does not cover trips where the flight was purchased with Business Extra; however, that is not specifically stated. Does anyone know for sure?

THANKS!

I can answer this one as I had tried, but failed, to invoke my card's travel insurance when my Grandpops passed and I had to fly back from the other side of the world for the funeral.

If ANY portion of your trip is paid in a currency other than USD (n.b. AA miles or BE points), then it is not eligible for coverage under the T+C of your card's insurance.

If you haven't flown yet, then get Allianz. They rock.

I am interested in that too, I booked 9 J class fares for work. The AA fares were twice that of the BA or IB coded flights, but don't want to miss out on the Business Extra points. I am pretty sure they won't credit properly though given how questionable the processing is.

Previously, the BXP3, international one-way upgrade on discount fare, showed on the certificate that O, Q, S were excluded for the upgrade. Has anyone had experience presenting one of those old certificates to the check-in agent for the upgrade on an N-based fare where the itinerary was upgraded prior to the devaluation (which now excludes N fares from the upgrade)?

Most of the check-in AAgents I've seen have no clue about the specifics of BE upgrades, they just follow the instructions on the certificate. So if you've got an old cert valid on N fares, and are flying on an N fare, then you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks, JJ. My thoughts as well.

What class are cash+points fares being booked into? Is it a fare code that normally earns Avios on BA? If not, then you will not get points.

I'm travelling soon IAD-CLT-LAX. I used a BusinessExtra certificate a couple of weeks ago to upgrade CLT-LAX by telephone. Do I give the certificate to the ticket counter at IAD or will the CLT gate agent require it? (I don't want the IAD ticket agent to collect it if the gate agent in CLT will expect it and possibly move me to Y.)

Looking at my British Airways ticket on the American site, the fare component of my fare for a J fare is only $110, the rest of the $1300 amount is listed as Surcharges and Taxes !
So will I just earn 110/5 = 25 measly points for this fare ?
