Any recent success on holding a Z or T domestic inventory and then having BE department ticket the res with a BX1A or BX1B?
Also, are BX1A and BX1B certificates good for one-way or round-trip travel? Thanks |

Also, are BX1A and BX1B certificates good for one-way or round-trip travel? Thanks They can be used for roundtrip. I do not know if starting and ending cities have to be the same. When I select BX1A, I see: "PlanAhead Awards are valid for one-way or round-trip travel, are subject to special limitations on seat availability and may be subject to travel embargo dates." |
Anyone know how much is the fee for USA-Japan award? Thanks

I find it takes about 10-12 days. I think the BE sites say they mail twice a week, but I don't buy it (or if they do, they have a few days processing time before they mail).

AA always sends mine via US mail unless I request a rush in accordance with their procedures. Only way they've sent them via fedex is with my account #.

Here's a wacky question:
I am trying to find a saaver economy award flight from Europe to LAX that's not on BA. Even better is to avoid AA on the international segment as well. I found a pretty sweet option CDG-HEL-JFK on a date that works great for me (not much available in general, let alone when I need it). Problem is I get stuck, there are no flights out of NYC I could find within that 4-hr domestic connection window at the saaver price. Then I remembered my stash of Business extra points. I was thinking to upgrade anyway, then I thought, hmm, maybe this could help me out of my dilemma. I've emailed them with my question, which is, can I book the award at my economy saaver price CDG-HEL-JFK-LAX since that last segment would then be in the 4-hr connection time/available for upgrade? (business saaver). Anyone try anything like this? At any rate I'll report back with what they say. Emailed business extra for now, I figured a normal agent by phone would have no clue with this one. |
Giving Away a Business Extra Upgrade
Happy Holidays, Fellow FTers -
I am giving away an expiring (12/31/2015) Business Extra International Upgrade. If you are not familiar, it is similar to a Systemwide upgrade but with restrictions - and a paper cert that needs to be presented at check-in. - International routes only - Coach to Business or Business to First - Any published fare except L, O, S, W, V or Q - The flight must depart by 12/31/2015 - My preference is to exchange this by hand in NYC due to the short window PM me with your flight details if interested. Happy Holidays! |
Isn't this something that should go on Coupon Connection?

Hey, I am based in NYC and will be flying to Asia right after Christmas. So this would be perfect.
One question though, can these be used in codeshare AA flights? (NonMetal AA)? (Cathay or Japan Airlines? |

Award travel is not valid on flights marketed as American Airlines online service but operated by other airlines under a codeshare agreement. Upgrades are valid only with tickets issued on American Airlines ticket stock. |
Very kind of you

Nice way to give something back the the FT community!

Very generous offer!
If you don't find a taker before the end of the year, the cert need not go to waste. I found out that you can redeposit certs for a $150 fee (and may even be free for EXP, not sure on that). So, you can mail it back to AA, pay the $150 fee, and have the 3100 points available for another 2-3 years (I specifically asked and AA said that points will be valid anew). |
