[quote]VISITING THE Admirals Club WHEN NOT FLYING
Members not flying can access Clubs when they have airside access and the airport doesnt restrict lounge access to departing passengers.
Members can not secure a gate pass from a ticket agent.
Members can not secure a gate pass with merely "declared business purpose" for themselves and others any longer (14 Sep 2016).
Members and non-members can schedule and attend business meetings in the Admirals Club or Executive Center without traveling if they have rented a conference room in a Club with such and are registered on the daily meeting list. See below.
This requires arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.
FAQ link including a Club access.
Q. I am a member and would like to meet someone at the airport, but I'm not flying today. Can I get through Security to get to the Admirals Club lounge?
A: No. Only those registered in advance and attending a conference in a rented conference room may have access. Casual access / walking up to the ticket counter to request a gate pass is not permitted; please do not put employees in an uncomfortable position by asking.
To do so you must :
- Present a valid government I.D.
- Have your name on the daily meeting list
- Admirals Club number/AAdvantage number
- Legal name as it appears on government issued identification for each individual
- Birth dates, including year, for each individual (maximum of two guests allowed for non-conference room meeting)*
- Location, date and time of non-conference room meeting
*(Times corrected to current service center hours)
Q. CAN I PUR HASE A FULLY REFUNDABLE AA TICKET FOR ACCESS?
It's honestly not a good idea, as this practice is specifically prohibited by American Airlines' Conditions of Carriage (Link):
American specifically prohibits practices commonly known as:
...Fraudulent, fictitious and abusive bookings: Fraudulent, fictitious and/or abusive bookings are prohibited. These types of bookings are defined as ... or to gain access to airport facilities....

Finally decided to take the plunge and open up a Citi Executive card and enjoy the perks since my business travel has picked up significantly lately. Today before my flight out of DFW, I tried to enter the Admirals Club at terminal D using my new card (received last week). They swiped it at the check-in desk, then said it was giving them a message stating that the card was not valid for access. I had them turn it over and pointed out where it said "Admirals Club" right on the card, but they said there was nothing they could do and that I needed to call Citi.
I called Citi, and they went over my account and said that everything looks good from their end (correct AAdvantage number, confirmed it was an Executive-level account, etc). I told them what had just happened and the agent was very apologetic ... offered to refund charges for a day pass fee if I had already bought one, etc. In the end there was nothing that Citi could see wrong, and they suggested that I call AAdvantage customer service (M-F hours of course).
When I arrived at DCA, I wasn't in a hurry so I stopped by the club there just to see if the same thing would happen. Sure enough, card swiped, not valid for access. The agents there were a little more helpful and did some more detective work. They checked my address and made sure that another AAdvantage account hadn't been made for the new card, and also tried manually entering my AAdvantage number and verified that my account wasn't showing AC access by that method either.
It's pretty frustrating having this new account with all of these supposed "benefits" yet I can't seem to be able to use them and nobody really knows why. The only thing that I can think of is that I currently also hold an AA Citi Platinum card (obviously no AC benefits with that one) and that my account is somehow "stuck" on that level of access even though the new card should be tied to my account as far as Citi is concerned. One other strange thing I noticed is that my new Exec card doesn't have my AAdvantage number printed on the back (my Platinum card does).
Any ideas, or has any anyone had this happen to them before?

Citi appears to have screwed up, as it seems they didn't associate and print your card with your AAdvantage number.

In the meantime, if I were you, I'd just buy the day passes as needed in the meantime and let Citi sort that out afterward.

FWIW, my AA Citi Exec DOES NOT have my AA number on it. I obtained it in July and have had no issues with club access. My previous Citi Plat Select Card also did not have the number. My old AA Citi Visa Signature card did have the FF number (but of course, neither of the old cards included club access). Maybe the card design / information changed recently and the number is no longer printed on the card?
But since the card is new, it just might be a matter of the account not being updated yet. Do contact the Admirals Club CSO tomorrow.

Honestly, I don't get the whole point of EQP at this point -- they made sense being separate back when EXP was EQP-only, but under the present system it's hard to see the point vs. just applying a comparable class-of-service bonus to EQM.
Yes, there may be some people who mostly fly premium cabins or upper coach fares who are dissuaded from a cheaper ticket in order to get the full EQP, but I would think that just sinking EQP and adding a class-of-service bonus to EQM would do more to get people like me who occasionally pay for premium classes to do.

It would be similar for a household / spousal member with a subsidiary credit card; no number, but listing.
But I did receive my replacement card recently, with most of the information on the reverse and no embossing, but it has my AAdvantage number.

For many cards, it is not what is listed on the card that "counts", but what is encoded on the magnetic strip (and soon, the chip).
There could be some "glitch", which reissuing the card should solve.

I have a family member who recently applied for the citibank aa exec card but left it at home. The AA club already had a electronic record showing membership from citibank. The time period was several business days. So AA knows what you have. As matter of fact I called on several family accounts and AA knows if you even have an Barclays Aviator card.

I just double checked now and it doesn't; nor does my Citi/AA Amex. I don't know for sure that none of the other ones had it (or that the current godawful ugly one they sent for the regular World Elite card doesn't -- it's gt no embossed numbers and indeed the CC# only in small print on the back -- I only use that about once or twice a year on award tickets and copays and otherwise it lives in my safe.)

My Exec card does not have my AA number, but my former Platinum card does (on the back, to the right of the expiration date).
Both cards are the new style, with chip and with the CC numbers on the back.
I remember my old Plat card with the CC numbers on the front years ago also had my AA number, on the front.

Is that the newer-style card without embossed numbers?
My most recent card is a little over a year old (don't remember when they sent the replacement 2014, but the expiry month was October so at least a couple of months older than a year old) and no AA#. It's still the older style card though.

I don't know if this is what's going on right now (my Exec days have come to an end) but for quite a while, the way it worked is that the card they would send you initially did not have the number, but if you requested a replacement (or reported it lost, etc.), the replacement card WOULD have the number. I don't know why this was the case but it held for three accounts in a row for me.
