There are many MEL-SIN F availability but not SYD-SIN so that's the only reason why I am thinking about booking MEL-SIN. I tried MEL-SIN-KUL-NRT but did not work.

But AAdvantage may have a different distance

A couple of quick questions as I start figuring out the full list of options for some business awards, US west coast to India that I will be booking in early 2019 for 330 days out (or whatever it is in advance that we can book). I know I can use CX and LAX-HKG will wind up having decent availability, but we'll be coming back via the pacific on revenue tickets so I thought it would be fun to go via the Atlantic on the way over. In reading the various AA rules, it looks like NA to India is permitted via 3rd region, allowing transit in EU or ME. That means BA, QR, RJ flights ex-US, and QR is definitely one of my preferences.
But I see that AA has US-India fares (via the Atlantic) that are quite permissive and other than requiring AA across the water, they permit unlimited transfers and really only preclude a small number of non OW alliance carriers. My sense is that these would enable US-EU on AA and then potentially a mix of other carriers from there. For instance, Clearly LAX-LHR(AA)-CMB(UL)-BOM(UL) would work. But how about LAX-LHR(AA)-DOH(QR)-BOM(QR)? That is technically transiting a fourth region... would that be allowed? If so it would enable a range of RJ, QR and EY connections from various AA gateways in Europe.
Has anyone chased any of these options down or is transiting in both the EU and ME not permitted?
BTW- The revenue fare in question I reference above is
