Can't find the AA 772 on any LAX/DFW runs. Anyone got an example date?

According to the AA Cargo skeds, the only 772 flying a domestic route is a single LAX-MIA and vv.

But it's sold as a 3 Class right?

AA is now using only one 772 MIA-LAX until recently used 2. I am frequently on this route and the cabin crew told the other plane was pulled for refurbishment. The planes should return as they continue on to NRT and PVG from LAX.

Domestic flat bed routes beyond JFK-LAX/SFO?

Relatively (re)new to AA and travel periodically from east coast home base to west coast. I always take the red eye going east and usually have to fly into non-NYC markets when I do...

Coming from DL I know that there are a few routes where DL uses flat beds (aircraft repositioning?) on a daily basis. For example, I can fly LAX to ATL on the 763 and get a flat bed.

Are there routes where AA/US provides domestic flat bed opps beyond JFK? I'm happy to go a bit out of my way to get a more comfortable couple of hours of sleep...

Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide

The A321T subfleet used for JFK-LAX/SFO is the only domestic routing and domestic fleet with planned full-time lie flat seating.

However, internationally configured planes (more and more of which are either being delivered or retrofit with lie-flat seating) sometimes run select domestic flights (often hub-hub, e.g. MIA-LAX) for either positioning, utilization, or training purposes.

Currently, the US A330 fleet has lie-flat. In addition the AA 77W (not used domestically currently AFAIK) and AA 787 (will do DFW-ORD turns in May) have lie-flat.

And the AA 772 fleet, 763 fleet (those planes which aren't being retired), and 75L (note this is the subfleet used for international flying, not all of the 757s) are, to the best of my knowledge, being (slowly) retrofit with lie-flat. Not sure about current progress, but I think it's more miss than hit with these types right now.

I'm not sure about the US international 757s but expect they are also in for retrofit at some point? Someone else can hopefully confirm.

We certainly hope so as they're likely to be around for a bit still. The domestically-configured 757s that do PHX-Hawaii runs are mostly due for retirement soon. Whether the internationally (old "US East") 757s replace them, or unrehabbed AA 763s, or a mix of both, remains to be seen and is the topic of occasional debate on these boards. My guess would be a mix, but I have no insider knowledge of such.

This covers most of the planes that have beds:

You'd still need to find the Int'l 757s, since they won't appear in the link above. They're frequently on JFK-MIA, but I don't think I've seen them venture far enough west to be of use to you/us?

As there's a master thread discussing the topic of international aircraft on domestic routes (which is what this would be, since the transcon A321 is the only domestic aircraft with flat beds), I'll go ahead and merge this in.

Thanks for the feedback. Disappointing that the hard product stinks out of Philly. As a longtime DL premium flyer moving to Philly and AA, it will be tough to adjust.

That happens from time to time.

Last month we had a 763 CIP on that route. That was a bit of a surprise.

AA 290 from MCO-JFK this afternoon swapped a 321 for a retrofitted 763. It sure made for a nice 4th of July present!

JFK-SFO All 32B now

All flights between JFK and SFO are 32B (transcon config) now. I have updated the Wiki to remove AA24 and AA85 as widebody flights.
