B738 Preferred Seating - MCE or Blocked middle seat

Hi ...

Flying ORDLAS next year (I booked early)
Seat map shows Row 8-30 (which I presume means MCE seating).
All seats empty.
I'm 6'1, 215lb so I do prefer extra room at the shoulder more than anything.

Q : Agree with me booking 16 window (with the middle seat blocked) or better to go Aisle seat in MCE rows near the front of Y? (I'm CX *G)

ps - What does the middle seat blocked thing mean? (I spend too much time on MD80s I guess)

They bolt a "seat tray" to the middle seat so that no one can sit there.. As 5'8", it's my preferred choice on a 73.. If I were taller (like you, I'd probably get MCE aisle like you said).. MCE is only in the front of the cabin. Not sure about the reshuffling of the seating on 73s in the future, they might remove the seat blockers..

When AA took out a row for MCE, they were left with 154 seats, 4 over the limit for 3 FAs. So AA decided to just block four middle seats to get down to 150 seats so that they can assign 3 FAs to that flight.

How is seat 8A on B737-800?

I will be travelling in Y several times on B737-800.

My status allows me to select premium seats at no charge.

Currently, I have chosen 8C for easy access. 8A (window) would be preferable, though, if enough legroom to get up easily without disturbing pax in B & C.

Any comments?

Rows 16 and 17 are "preferred"

On all my upcoming 738 flights, the A, C, D, and F seats in rows 16 and 17 are preferred, meaning that there's an upcharge for an ordinary passenger (i.e., peon) to purchase them. Rows 16 and 17 are the rows in which the middle seats are physically blocked. The upcharge is less than that for MCE, but not much less.

There is sufficient space to move without having to make everyone get up.

It is right behind F.

You will have a window.

You will (more than likely) have someone sitting next to you.

Your nearest exit will be in front of you.

There have been reports of "better cushions" in MCE seats, is this confirmed?

I have not noticed this--will pay special attention next time. I don't remember the seat feeling any different from the normal Y seat, except the extra legroom.

Hi
I am hoping that someone could answer this question.

Seatguru says that the seats in row 13 may not recline. However, I have been searching through this thread and row 13 doesn't seem to be cautioned against.

Many Thanks

Just sat in 13F last week. The seat reclines a very small amount, not nearly as much as the other seats in the cabin. If you want to recline more, select a row other than 13 or 14.
