I can’t figure out why they are selling PE as MCE, and kissing that $$. Maybe someone knows why

Having a serious debate with myself - I easily go through my SWU's especially since they have cut the amount EXPs get in half. I was able to move to 16L on LAX-LHR in June as it was just coded as MCE per above. Trying to decide if I just want to pull back my SWU request and stay as is and save them for when I want to jump from "regular" MCE to J as it would be more of an "upgrade."

Of course all this goes up in the air if they introduce SWUs only jumping from Y to PE later in the year but still...

Because it's not guaranteed that it'll have PE. So instead of selling PE, they only sell them as MCE, thus if the flight is flown by an unreconfigured plane, no one has to get downgraded.

If you look at the flight in July or later, they are selling PE. Prior to that, they are giving themselves a buffer in case PE is not ready yet.

I would take the PE sold as MCE during this time period, but would do it with seat numbers that exist in the old configuration

Seat advice for MCE on AA777-300ER

I'm booked in MCE on AA105 (Heathrow to Kennedy) in June and the aircraft is shown as a triple-7 (77W configuration). I've looked at Seat Guru and they show this flight with a 3-4-3 forward MCE section (rows 16-19), but on the AA seat selection site it's shown as 2-4-2 and 0-4-0 for row 19. Has anybody here flown in this mini-cabin, and if so, are there good or bad seats to look for or avoid?

I'm booked in 18A but was thinking of changing to an aisle (old-man-bladder will surely take its toll over 7+ hours). Anything I should know before I do?

Any thoughts on keeping row 31 for now or changing to one of these PEY seats for B77W?

Seems like all the PEY seats have been released for selection on my LAX-HKG sector next month.
Moved to 16A from 16H, & I'm hoping the exit door doesn't protrude too much into the cabin.

PEY should be a better option than MCE, so if you can - definitely pick those for your flight.

I think you were looking at the wrong one, as seatguru shows it as 3-3-3. It's likely you'll have the 2-4-2 PE cabin instead of the 3-3-3 MCE, but there's no guarantee.

If you can pick a seat in rows 16-19, go for it. Regardless of configuration, it'll be beter than any seat in the back of the bus. If you think you'll need to get up often, I suggest an aisle seat or any row 16 seat.

A seat number that also exists in the old configuration.

I didn't see the new 77W PE layout at all on seatguru; I don't think they've changed it yet so it's definitely misleading. I hope they don't change up to an older plane/config at showtime. I'm quite eager to see what this PE offering is like on AA. Last year I got to fly PE on Finnair (A330) between HEL and JFK and it was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience, so I have something to compare it to this time. Sadly my flight east is on a United 76-3, also "PE" for a LOT more upgrade money ($175 instead of $104), but it was that or cattle class. And since I'm a big guy who doesn't sleep well on airplanes, it was either that or the jump to biz.

Ugg sorry....what? I think you mean pick a seat number in row 16 (what we think might be PE) that is also a seat number in the old MCE small cabin configuration correct? How would I find those out? I am in 16 D and E right now). Thank you all for being patient with me!!

Row 20

Hi

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question - but I am booking LHR - MIA. We have now lost our gold status so have to pay extra for better seats. PE is coming up more than I'm willing to pay so main cabin it is. The layout is showing the new PE and then row 20 is the first row of the main cabin, but it (and Row 21) is only showing 2 seats. On the seating chart it looks like 20K and L but when I selected them they are 20J and 20L.

Is it the aisle seat that is missing?

I assume there is some extra legroom because they are being sold as MCE seats but I wondered if anyone could tell me why Row 20 was reduced to 2 in the new layout with PE?

I also have this question More specifically, does 18A recline or should I go with 17A in MCE? This is for JFK-LHR so I will be needing some recline!
