UNDER CONSTRUCTION

NOTE: The 15 A330-200 (with Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines) are being retained and updated. (The nine Pratt & Whitney equipped A330-300s have been scheduled for retirement (return to lessor at lease end) by late 2018 due to poor "fit" in the AA fleet (link).) The A330-200s will continue, however, and the launch of the retrofitted A330-200 will see
  • 20 Zodiac "Envoy" type Business seats in a 1-2-1 layout (1 blocked for pilot rest)
  • 21 Premium Economy (B/E Aerospace) seats in a 2-3-2 layout
  • 50 Main Cabin Extra seats (same seats as Y, just greater seat pitch) 2-4-2 (2 blocked for customers requiring customer assistance)
  • Main Cabin / Economy seats also 2-4-2
  • Ku band satellite based Panasonic WiFi
  • Individual personal entertainment screens for every seat
  • Seat power
  • Noise reduction headsets - Bose in Business, others for Premium Economy

Premium Economy and extended Main Cabin Extra has been installed on the A330-200 fleet. Until 15 Jan 2018, PE seats were available to Elites as MCE on those aircraft with PE; PE are available for sale on that date.

I haven't flown in one, but walked a A332 recently with MCE and PE.

IMO, as advertised. Same coach seat with extra legroom.

This is true on the 772/788/789, but not on the A330s. On the A332 5A is the crew rest seat- it also has a retractable curtain installed over it. On the A333 it's seat 7A.

IIRC, the A332 is equipped with two bunks for the cockpit crew during the flight. Cabin crew still bunks out in the passenger cabin. I seem to recall the FA union trying really hard for US to install a crew rest module when the aircraft was first delivered back in 2009, with no success.

Ok -- I was just checking b/c EF has 5A blocked for my flight tomorrow and I couldn't figure out why (PHL-CDG)

There are indeed two bunks on the A332, directly behind the flight deck and across from the forward lav. However, seat 5A is still always blocked- and used (at least on all my many longhaul flights)- by cockpit crew for rest as well. Back in the US days before AA, 1A was blocked for handicap pax, but would be released at check in if it remained unassigned. That is no longer the case though- only 5A is blocked in longer flights and the rest open for assignment at booking.

So after finally flying in the PE seats on one of these I can answer some questions.

1. The MCE seats are standard seats with the extra legroom despite the odd configuration.
2. I would avoid Row 8 as there is a missing window on each side which leaves only a partial window to see out of.
3. Seats were comfortable. Way better than Regular Y but not as nice as J.

If anyone has any other questions let me know.

Glad to hear that the missing window is in row 8 and not row 9A where I am booked for March...do the bulkhead seats in regular Y look pretty decent?

They looked like standard Bulkheads. I personally hate bulkhead seats so I would opt for 10GH as it is still forward and MCE for the legroom.

I was on the 787 from PHL to SFO this weekend, it had the PE seats. I was in First, but after we landed I went over to check them out. these are the same PE seats found on Virgin Atlantic's 330. I think they are a bit narrower than domestic first seats, though they have a few more adjustments. Legroom seemd comparable.

I was in 5A by the way. Both 5A and 5H have the track for the curtain, but only 5A had one. the seat was otherwise the same as all the others. Though, there was a "window light" button above teh seat I dared not press. But very curious as to what it is.

No, AA787 is normally CLT-IAD.
There is a 332 (AA1743) PHL-SFO. I am guessing he's just a bit confused.

Wow,PHL-SFO is indeed a 332. That'd be a schweet upgrade on a domestic route.

Dang, I travel about every other month PHL-SFO and never picked up the 332, because I always take early morning flights. I may adjust to leave a day early and snag the 332. It's a shame the red eyes aren't on em. Trying to sleep in regular Y/F seats are misery on the usual 320s...
